If EU movies were made, where should they start?

Though it is unlikely that Lucas will make more films, I would like to know where he would start in the timeline? Jacen's turn to the Sith is very similar to Anakin's turn to the darkside. Take your vote, Would the new trilogy start at the Legacy of the Force series (with a very long backflash to the Myrkr mission). Or should all of that be skipped and start over in Fate of the Jedi.

P.s. I prefer you not to suggest votes outside of these choices, but if you must then go ahead.

If we're strictly talking the Beyond era, either pick up the story soon after RotJ (X-wing set or Thrawn Trilogy) or jump to NJO and condense the story line to a manageable degree for films. Going any further than that is too complicated, unless you go WAY further when the Big Three and their offspring aren't factors anymore. Too much untold back story.
And Fate of the Jedi is nothing close to a 'start over'- it builds quite a bit upon LotF and Dark Nest.

I'd like a non-big-three-oriented X-wing movie, or trilogy.

 

Neither.

 

Thrawn trilogy, without a doubt. Still have the main three as central characters to draw the audience, still has that classic Star Wars feel to the story and action, and isn't so far ahead that non-EU followers can't figure out what's happened in the meantime.

 

Does your like of that have anything to do with how well things go for the Sith Sinre?

On-Topic: Limiting it to LotF and FotJ probably won't win you any fans Serena...most people really don't like those two. A better option would be either Dark Empire, or The Thrawn Trilogy. Both feature the Big Three heavily, and are close enough to the main storyline that people who aren't avid EU readers won't feel lost. DE has the added bonus of keeping the original bad guys (Empire, Palpy, etc).

IMO, the X-wing series and NJO would make the best TV series or miniseries.

The only thing is, that's still a pretty far jump from RotJ....

 

The Thrawn Trilogy seems to be a good place to continue if it was to happen. You would have the rise of the fallen Empire, a Dark Jedi, the introduction of Mara. All good.

 

Personally, I'd love to see a NJO sextology.

 

I'd be down right ecstatic if they made the Thrawn Trilogy into films. Then they could make a TV series about the NJO. A really really long TV series..
