I’m a self-taught amateur artist who (one day hopes that circumstances will allow for her to take drawing course) does fan art for Tolkien and recently Star Wars.

I hope you’ll enjoy – and any tips or advice to help me improve will be appreciated.

    Star Wars:
    "How to draw Obi-Wan"
    "Initiate Obi-Wan Kenobi"
"Obi-Wan and Siri" - fan art for "Truths of the Heart" by Valairy Scot
"Obi-Wan in a towel" - fan art for "Writer's Block" by ruth baulding

    Tolkien:
    "Gandalf recieves Narya"
    "Loremaster" (Elrond)
    "Halbarad"
    "Glorfindel"
    "Erestor"
    "Little Warrior" (Thranduil)
"Skating" (Elrond & Gilraen) - fan art for "In The House of Elrond" by Aearwen22
"Innocence" (Erestor & Lindir) - fan art for "Innocence" by Soledad (Rated: T - just to be on the safe side)

    Welcome!

It's lovely to see your artworks, wonderful work!

I think one of the important ones is to just keep drawing and to not forget to challenge yourself too, that way you learn new things and refine your skills :)

Wow very nice Pencil Work! I love the work on the hair on Obi-Wan! your Shadow work is awesome too. My suggestion would be to use a verity if pencil leads so you can get even darker in some areas and lighter is others. It will help give more shape to your figures. keep up the awesome work!

Thank you! I'm glad you like the shading because I find that difficult to do. And thanks a lot for the advice - will keep in mind.

I've decided to post the pictures instead of the links for the SW-fan art, so here it goes:

    First 2 new sketches:

    "Patience" - (Anakin & Obi-Wan):
    - I always imagined Anakin had a hard time adapting to his new mechanical hand.

"Jedi Master Ben Lars" - (Obi-Wan)
    - Fanart for "In A Lonely Place" by Flamethrower.

    Then the rest:

    "How to draw Obi-Wan"
    - just for fun.

You have a lot of talent and a good eye, but you may benefit from loosening up. Your shadows, while well placed, are very linear. Your currently style would be well suited to ink.
You should try getting into some pastel or watercolor classes with a good teacher who will push you beyond line and have you explore other ways of bringing depth to form.
Do you work in color at all?

Thanks for commenting, Antlers, and for your advice - I'll keep it in mind.

No I don't work in color and probably never will - I just think black and white looks so much cooler :)

And I do plan to take some art classes someday - they are just damn expensive in my country (in fact almost everything is), so there needs to be room in my budget for it ;)
