I don't know you Whitey, nor know the details of your relationship. But I've seen and been in enough toxic relationships to know that when it has to end, it has to ****in' end. And if this situation has been going on for awhile, it seems that you're unwilling to do so, either because you don't want to hurt your partner's feelings, you don't want to be single/alone/whatever or your partner makes it difficult for you to end things. Whatever the reason, the question you have to ask yourself is "am I willing to spend four more years with this person if I don't genuinely love the guy". If the answer is "No", it ain't fair or right for either party to connitnue things as they are, nor do I see why it's so difficult to just say "I don't love you anymore, it's best we part ways."

 

Because it's possible that Whitey does still love him... which makes things difficult. Sometimes, even though two people love each other, they are still not good for each other. So, he's probably struggling with the confusion of loving somebody and knowing the relationship is not a good thing. It's hard to rationalize when in that situation.

The hard part is always the how. What is th eway to separate. Text? Email? Phone with quick hangup? In person? Never ever consider the ideal that breaking up without being in person is wimpy. If you do not desire conflict then avoid it and do what is most comfotable. Too many times people call another a coward because they did not face them with it. This is simply someone looking for power over you. Dump them via your desired means and move on.
