Arena 2023-24 NCAA Football Discussion

I am so exceedingly disappointed that Cal isn't going to win here. I've been enjoying some good surprise wins by the PAC-10.

Although at least this is making for one of the real games of the day, especially since it's full of not real games. For example, I didn't go to Vanderbilt's game because they're playing Presbyterian, which doesn't count. And as they're winning 50-something to nothing, I feel I chose correctly.

 

#13 Virginia Tech goes down
#12 Ohio St. looked rough out there, but pulled it out at the end.

Crazy that Pitt got smacked around in the first two weeks, but beat Virginia Tech.

 

This will be another Jekyll and Hyde season for Pitt I guess.

Happy for the Aggie win today. Hopefully the game against Florida last week was just first game of the season jitters for the team.

dp4m I think that Alabama is also really good this year so that didn't help.

Also, right now I'd really love to see an Alabama-FSU national championship game. Those two teams are just destroying the competition this year. Perhaps FSU hasn't been tested enough yet to earn their dues, but they certainly will be against Clemson next week in what should be a really good game.

 

Interrupting serious discussion of today's games for this:

I am so very pleased with the USC Stanford game right now

 

It feels weird to root for Stanford again, but since I hate USC forever, I am pleased with this result.

 

Just glad it's that other USC who lost today. (Ditto for the other Carolina. )

 

Awesome win for the Irish, first I can remember in years that featured a dominating defense.

EDIT: Jumped all the way up to 11 in the AP! How's that for irrelevant!

 

Irrelevant isn't the word I'd choose here. More like 'typical' of the media.

 

I saw a few articles already talking about how it could be a magical year for us, I'm not buying it, at least not until after the Michigan game. And with the schedule we have this year, 10-2 might qualify as magical anyway.

 

10-2 would be losses to Stanford and USC?

 

One of those two. At Norman won't be easy either, and I never take UM for granted. Hopefully the front seven can attack Robinson the same way they did MSU last week.

 

Honestly, I haven't been terribly impressed with FSU so far, despite the gaudy scores. Thoroughly underwhelmed by their opponents, but not impressed. And FSU's starters really haven't had much playing time yet - Manuel, for example, has only played about 5 quarters worth of football, and none of that against a decent opponent.

 

This Clemson/FSU game is excellent!

 

West Vir--I mean, Florida State just scored on Clemson again!

 

Is Kansas St. legit?

 

After Oregon completely dismantled Arizona tonight, including forcing them to 0-6 in the red zone, combined with LSU's struggles against Auburn, I think we'll see a new #2 this week.
