TCW is loved?

 

It's only natural.

 

-Padme's Leia-like hair.
-Seeing the Boba Fett suit in action.
-Swoop bikes.
-Hearing the name "Tusken Raiders" for the first time in a STAR WARS movie.
-Seeing the cosmopolitan commoners of Coruscant.
-Seeing the Senate.

 

My list of nice things we got from the prequels:

EVERYTHING!!!!

 

Clones! Clones! Clones!

 

i wish we would have saw more of them though, and to see how painful order 66 was for them, but, i guess that's what the EU is for, isn't it?

 

Exactly. But Star Wars (the movies at least, stuff George Lucas is directly involved in) is not about clones. It's about Anakin.

Probably the very best thing that came out of the whole trilogy, for me at least, was the battle at the end of AOTC. I think from a technical perspective, they did a really awesome job with it...still doesn't save AOTC from being forever in the #6 position on my personal ranking of the six films, but the battle itself was still really good.

other runner ups include the Galactic senate, a purple lightsaber, a double-bladed lightsaber, the pod race (minus the announcer), and the duel between Anakin and Dooku at the beginning of RotS, mainly for the parallel it creates with the duel between Luke and Vader at the end of the RotJ

There's a theme developing here... I agree with it, too.

 

1. Some incredible new music from the legend, John Williams (especially the Duel of the Fates)
2. No secret I hated TPM but enjoyed the great duel at the end and the character of Maul.
3. Jango Fett and Kamino (great new world in the SW universe).
4. Obi-Wan fighting as a young man in all three movies. Great character at any age.
5. Just how wonderfully evil Palpatine was in ROTS
6. I liked the Clones in battle (and how they preceded Stormtroopers).
7. The character of Dooku. He was different from Vader and Maul in that he loved to lie and use manipulation in an almost believable fashion.
8. Seeing Wookies battle the droids (It makes me wonder of how it would have looked in ROTJ) but I wish it was a longer scene.
9. The extermination of the Jedi was pretty hardcore (but I wish there were more scenes, esp Vader in the suit doing it at the end).
10. Once again, the MUSIC!

Oh did I say ROTS

 

PT-Coruscant: The PT depicted this planet terrifically. Better than I imagined.

TPM-Darth Maul: perfect embodiment of a pure sith warrior(the only one besides Siddy we see in the entire saga).

AOTC-Coruscant speeder chase: It's a tad too long but the overall spectacle of it is fantastic.

PT-Naboo: Terrific different type of city for SW. It broadened the scope of what we could expect to see.

TPM-Pod race: Tons of fun and ILM did a great job at it.

ROTS-Opera scene: one of the best scenes in the entire saga.

ROTS-Ruminations scene: again, one of the best in the entire saga.

TPM-Qui-Gon Jinn: a great Jedi. Neeson brought a nice warmth and empathy to the character that was much needed. He pulled it off. One of my favorite characters in the entire saga.

TPM-Queen's costumes: This was George gone crazy with designs. And wow, very original yet evocative of Chinese Asian-influences. Terrific work by Trisha Biggar.

PT-Republic Senate: Original and vast. TPM's senate scenes are the best of the senate bunch IMHO.

PT-Palpatine: Haha. A wonderfully sly and deceptive character played in perfect broad strokes required in a space opera. Ian nailed it.

PT-Ewan as Obi-Wan: Ewan managed to take some of Alec's cadences in speech and mannerisms while still adding enough of his own that I can't imagine anyone else as Obi-Wan. He is Young Obi-Wan.

- Beautiful visuals, including the use of CGI

- heart-breaking moments of drama like Anakin's confession and Padme's ruminations

- perfectly executed action scenes such as Duel of the Fates and the Coruscant speeder chase

- ambient interludes like Coruscant dusk in TPM and Anakin's morning meditation on Naboo in AOTC

- Yoda with a laser sword, showing why he is the master

- yellow Naboo starfighter

- yellow speeder

- ending montage of AOTC (theatrical bliss. I really should've just called it a day with movie theaters after AOTC)

 

The Galactic Senate. It was nice seeing how the SW Political system on screen worked, and it goes great with the round table scene in ANH.

Obi-Wan's search for clues to Padme's assassination attempts, The best entry showing a Jedi using their wits to solve something.

 

One of the things I enjoyed most about the PT was seeing how powerful the Jedi were and yet how ultimately flawed their way of life was. If the Jedi had not forbidden marriage and attachment would Anakin have turned to the dark side?

For me, that's one of the great things about the prequels; the way George created a much richer and more complex narrative that blurred the lines between good and evil instead of sticking with the good guys wear white/bad guys wear black simplicity established in the OT. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying one is better than the other, just that I'm glad we didn't simply get more of the same.

 

Hard to say, but he could have ended up married either way. Thus he could have been subject to a "save Padme" scenario either way.

Also introducing characters that were in the original trilogy and giving us a story about how they ended up where they were in the original trilogy, like Obi-Wan, Yoda, R2-D2, C-3PO, Owen Lars, Beru Whitesun, Darth Sidious and Jabba The Hutt.
