I thought trojans usually prevent this sort of thing.

I mean, that's what any man who caught a virus from German fetish porn would say.... "I was doing stuff for work.... and the next thing I knew, I had this virus, and my computer is completely wiped out."

If it was truly work-related, the IT person at his place of employment may have some ideas... worth a shot, I guess.

Just say you were trying to illegally download Clone Wars episodes.

That's actually how I got my last virus.

( And TCW isn't technically scat porn, other than in terms of what it does to preexisting continuity. )

Not at his work but here at home. He's looking at trying to find another job than what he's doing now. These things he was looking at was explaining this new job or whatever, but the site was bad. Granted maybe the site had a low firewall, and the virus already there exploded. Either way, the computer is down

edit: I don't watch the clone wars

I always avoid sites with low firewalls and exploded viruses.

Next time get a higher firewall, that way the virus won't be able to climb it.

You should look into a firelabyrinth.

Did you try anything with the computer yet? If not read this first, it has a few solutions from the Microsoft website.

The earliest reference I could find is 2007 which tells me the firewalls and antivirus programs should've been updated well before now. Which brings the question, what where you doing the night the virus was downloaded and what kind of protection are you using in terms of anti-virus programs and malware removal?

Yeah, he (or you even) was probably at a "site" to get worked over more likely and got more than he bargained for in return. It's an old story in this day and age.

Delete the system32 folder on your computer and replace it with an empty folder of the same name. To be safe, you should clean out your system32 folder every week or two - particularly if you have naughty internet usage habits.

I like Falcons, they're powerful birds. Jedi because it's a Star Wars website but considering about sticking to just Falcon as I actually own that sock on this site.

    Your turn to answer,
