See, you were asking about what I had coming up, Jedi Ben, and I was very tempted to make a play on words with your name. But I resisted.

 

Aww man, I'm feeling a little conflicted! On the one hand, I'm super glad that Mr Miller is getting work, and the fact that he's getting to write a book he's clearly personally invested in really does make the sting of losing Knight Errant a little easier to bear. On the other hand, I'm just not the world's biggest Kenobi fan. The premise, though, does sound better than I would have thought from just the title, and the author hasn't let me down yet, so I'll be giving it a go.

 

Quoting because this can't be said enough times.

With the stories JJM has managed to tell about Sith who are stuck on a single planet, Obi-Wan's life on Tatooine is in good hands.

Oh, and I really hope that art gets used for the cover (please, please, please don't chop it up like the revised Crucible cover).

 

This looks absolutely fantastic. Cannot wait to see what this is like. JJM is absolutely an author I trust to handle this time period and character with absolute grace. So, long story short, bring on Kenobi.

I hope this also will become an audiobook... or even better, if it features Owen and Beru too... have the actors voice their roles themselves please!

This may just be the first Star Wars book I buy since Knight Errant, which I loved.

 

I couldn't be happier. Kenobi has always been my favorite prequel era jedi, and I'm glad that its JJM penning it. I also hope that, unlike Scourge, it is issued with an audiobook.

I really wish somebody would have asked about the rumored Stover novel.

 

2. Emergency reading material in the bathroom.

 

I wonder if he'll delve into the "communing with Qui Gon" thing and if the nature of the Whills will be explored at all. That would be an interesting contrast to the Tatooine/Western element.

Also, wasn't there a Jude Watson juvenile series set in this period...?

 

and... may I hope for lots of Tatooine dweller cameos? Cantina Who is Who needs you Owen and Beru need more screentime in EU!!!

and I wonder if there will be a reference to Last of the Jedi series with Obi learning from QuiGon scenes on Tatooine and his talk with Ferus Olin too.

And I want a certain Tales comic to be canonized still.. with a few retcons due to TCW reviving Maul. Old Wounds

and I wonder if Asharad Hett will show up...

and last but not least: what the... romance? please tell me it is Owen and Beru in Love... not Obi Wan getting another girlfriend that will die before he does. except she is a Whipid called Valarian or one we know from earlier already.. one that survived TCW... hmm.. hey, what is Cerasi up to these days? the one who loved him and lives!

other open questions about Kenobi from ANH:
-how/when did he learn the Krayt Dragon howl
-how did he build his house and why exactly there (I prefer it without Forcepowers slow wile living in a cave/tent, has more style to it)
-was he ever in Jabbas palace?
-What is Rotta up to during this time.. is he on Tatooine?
-did Kenobi ever meet the Darklighter family?
-how did he ensure nobody robbed his home while away to town for shopping or watching out over Luke?
-will we see in the novel his house described like in the "inside the worlds" books, with cellar and all and see some obscure stuff in his home getting used or explained?
-will he while on tatooine get galactic news via holonet or else and react emotionally to some of the dark news of massacres and else?
-will we see how the gravestones got removed near the homestead once Luke was old enough to ask questions?

and so much more!

First off no meeting of Vader and Obi-Wan!
Next off, Yes! I can't wait to read this. It should give us even more insight to Obi-Wan. How he dealt with Anakin becoming Vader and how he failed as a teacher and what not. I hope we see some interaction with Qui-Gon, the Lars, Luke, Watto, the Tusken Raiders (maybe Obi finds out about the Tusken massacre?) Hett, and Mos Eisley in general. A more wretched hive of scum and villainy needs another appearance. Maybe a message or two to Bail?
