It was simply spectacular. Now who here didn't say "Holy bleeping bleep" the moment he jumped off that tiny capsule? That flat spin was scary as hell though.

He talked about the spin in an interview, said what made it hard to control is the suit, because you don't feel the air, so your reactions are always a split second too late. Apparently the spin kept stopping, because if he had spun more than 6 seconds continuously, his control chute would have opened. He said it was pretty scary, he thought he was going to lose consciousness.

I thought it was great. The pic posted above by Boba, the guy wa sout of sight not even ten seconds afterward.

They kept on about wether or not he broke the sound Barrier. At sea level it is 760 mph, at around 60,000 feet it is only 650 mph. He was well over 700 mph so I don't understand what the doubt is about.

I found it rather unnerving when you couldn't her him breathe about a minute in and he started to spin. At that point I thought he got unconscious.

Anyway, should I feel national pride for having just witnessed an Austrian sky jumping from the highest altitude man has ever dared? Because I kinda don't feel anything.

The compilation video on redbullstratos.com mixes in some of that footage. The jump starts at about 1 minute.

    Lego

And the spin as seen through the camera on his suit.

The flat spin starts at about 1:00, gets pretty hairy.

Missed this. :( would have loved to have seen it live.

Anyway one of the daily papers had the worst text about this today. It was a whole article about side effects to the body with the lack of atmoshpere up there, but nowhere did it mention the fact that he countered the lack of air pressure by using a pressure suit!
