I agree that he's not the best guy in real life, but he's still a decent actor. I don't understand why people let the actors' real personalities seep into their enjoyment of a movie. It's the same reason why I don't mind Tom Cruise and Mel Gibson films. They might be horrible people in reality, but they're decent actors. If you just dislike their acting style that's another matter of course.

Now if they're personality actors like John Wayne or Michael Cera or Jack Black then that's different, because then they aren't too different from their onscreen personas.

ellen page just rubbed me the wrong way right from the start.

 

Yeah, she overacted through most of it I liked the writing a lot, though. That, and the other characters were great, Allison Janney and Jason Bateman's in particular.

 

I saw a mention of Jack Black. Ugh. He'd be in my Top 10. A pathetic 'dude' dressed as a teenager. Always doing these clumsy karate poses in photos. One raised eyebrow, dumb expression. In a way it almost humanizes him, as if he doesn't realize how awful he is.

I'm sorry, I can't stand DiCaprio ever since my sister bought Titanic and watched it till it was worn out.

 

I can understand where you're coming from (after all, it's the same excuse I gave for my disliking Julie Andrews) but I urge you to reconsider DiCaprio. He's grown a lot since Titanic and in my opinion become one of the best actors of his generation. Very good at making a character his own I think. Matt Damon is another name that comes to mind of a former pretty boy coming into his own as a solid character actor.

 

I have tried but can't get over his baby face. I still can't get myself to watch Inception, and I'm in no hurry.

 

I would say you're missing out, but I know all too well the dangers of Hype Aversion when trying to get someone to watch something.

 

You put Julie Andrews and have NO room to judge.

 

inception was awful. i think ellen page should have been on my list.

Honestly I thought Ellen Page's character was one of the best parts of the movie.

I can dislike the artist and like the art, but for any list of a variety of reasons I shy away from certain people's films. Crowe isn't just a good actor he's and astounding actor. Tom Cruise is incredible in Vanilla Sky. INCREDIBLE. He also did great in War of the Worlds which is unfortunately one of those movies underrated for its acting because it's scifi.

I have only seen Cera in Scott Pilgrim and I think he and everyone to do with it should be immortalized via statue.

I forgive Cage for all wrong doing because of Raising Arizona and The Rock.

 

Nah. It'll take more than that. Much more.
