Sounds like one of my early fics 'A Second Chance, Another Try'

If we do this challenge in like January, I'll put up an 'official' post with the sock sometime in December, asking for bunnies/unfinished stories to be PMed to the sock, then I'll post them all at once so they are easy to find :) So save all your bunnies till then if you want to participate.

Lol. You all probably started writing FF before I was even born, so I don't doubt it ;) How long did it take you to chisel it out on your stone tablet :p Okay, I'll stop my old jokes and get off your lawns now.

I wrote my first fanfiction in 1978 before COMPUTERS. No stone tablet but I had to use a typewriter...(google it if you don't know what that is). And this was a typewriter that didn't have automatic white-out correction capabilities. I had to paint out mistakes by hand. You guys don't know how easy your life got with the invention of the PC.

    Get off my lawn, Punk!

Yes, and I started using computers with the advent of Windows 98. Dos made my brain hurt [face_laugh] :p JL, I also used a manual style typewriter in college for a while; icky ink ribbons. Then I moved to the typewriters with the cartridges before using the PC. [face_dancing] ;)

Yeah and in HS and College you would have a teacher that demanded the reports typed and if you had one mistake you had to start over with a fresh sheet...NO WHITE OUT! You end up paying somebody to type up your term paper. Then I finally bought a cartridge typewriter with correction capabilities. I would go back to my room at college and it would be gone. Somebody would "Borrow" it to write their paper. It happened so much that I wrote on the carrying case in bold letters DO NOT TAKE THIS TYPEWRITER WITHOUT PERMISSION! I was at a military academy and we didn't have locks on our doors, so anybody can walk in and "Borrow" your stuff. It was called "Cadet Borrowing". They take what they want and leave you a note and therefore it is not stealing.o_O

For the record. I do know what a type writer is. We used to have one actually - a fairly modern one.

Speaking of old people, I was at my grandparents today and every time I go there, I get an idea for a LM fic. Today my grandmother was complaining about how my grandfather is going to work himself to the grave (sounds like a certain Jedi Grand Master). My grandfather then comes back, they bicker, and it comes out that he wasn't really working. He was "playing with his bobcat tractor" AKA working. Sounds like an excuse Luke would come up with. I want to write an AU so badly where Luke and Mara are like 85 and your typical bickering old married couple.

I might. I am nearly at the half way point in my novella, so I am trying to think of a short fic that I can write as kinda like 'down time' in between original works. If I can think of a fun, short plot with old, bickering LM, I'll write it.

I'm definitely feeling that little fic of yours, Bri :D I always like to think of how and to what extent Luke would pass over leadership of the Jedi and how Mara would persuade him to let some of that go. [face_thinking] Also, they could have a talk about regrets and dreams fulfilled. [:D] !!!

That would be an interesting thing to read. Right now it looks like Luke will fight with the Jedi until he is dead because a part of him died with the passing of Mara. But if Mara was alive I wonder if he would think about retirement? Turning over the Order to Kam or Corran or whoever and he and Mara buying a little cottage somewhere and just enjoying their golden years. That would have been nice.

I wonder how things will go in the profics as soon as Ben marries and has grandchildren? That may change the way Luke perceives his role in the universe. Can you imagine 70+ year old Luke retired and acting as guardian to his grandchildren while his Jedi son and daughter-in-law are out on missions? That also would be cute.

Or better yet, in fanfic have a 70+ year old Luke with a very much alive Mara watching the grandkids as their son and daughter-in-law are out on Jedi missions. It would allow them to enjoy the kids while they are young. They missed out on poor Ben's childhood because of the Vong war, and then more war and then more Sith and War. :(

Hmmmm. Those are some really good ideas. I can see Mara trying to convince Luke to retire (he's the kind of man who will want to work till his death - which is probably what we'll see happen in profics). So she takes him on vacation with the grandchildren and they show him how nice retirement can be. But then things go horribly wrong :p

Why do things always have to go horribly wrong in your fics! No! Bad Briannakin![face_shame_on_you] How about they put the lovely redheaded grandchildren to bed, then they retire to their bed chambers for an awesome night of romance! That's the ending I like.

I think I may need to bribe Ginchy to do a HTF shine for me to distract my readers from their murderous thoughts.

Anyways, I now have the opening chapter for this fic in my head and I really want to write it! Damn it! I need to be focusing on my novella!

    Amen!

I'm sleep deprived these days so I swear I have full out ADD, and it has transferred to my writing life. I tried to write last night. I think I got 24 words typed in 2 hours. I make take a short break from my novella and write some LM goodness. Any requests? I tried to start my LM retirement fic last night, but I couldn't even get a title down. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?!?!

For the retirement fic how about a title of "Never Too Old for Romance" or "Things Get Better With Age" or "Jedi Retirees Gone Wild!"

Requests...hmmm...I read a fic over at FFN that had an interesting start but it got angsty. I think the start was good but I would have made it NOT angsty. Anyway, in the story I read it takes place in the Choices of One timeframe. In the story Luke is so interested in Mara Jade because he thinks she is Jedi trained that he stays behind. Mara captures him and brings him to Palpatine and then there is angst.

I am thinking what if Luke stays behind and asks Mara to come with him. She is loyal to Palpatine, but she thinks this may be a way to infiltrate the rebels, so she goes with him. And then...I don't know...she sees him shirtless and she decides the best way to convince him she is on the side of good is to have hot sex. That sounds like a good plot. You should write that...without angst.

I have yet to read CoO. I am so ashamed. Damn university life!

That sounds interesting. Hazel did something like that. I'm looking for something a bit shorter. Something I can do in four or five chapters.

Plot, what plot? Or Porn without plot? Both fit this situation.

I'm trying to remember some of my old plot bunnies, but I have none that aren't angsty-pangsty and/or under 10000 words.

Maybe, in light of recent developments, I'll do a classic Disney plot with Star Wars characters! The Lion King? Bambi? Hercules? :p (just kidding. I cry my eyes out every time I see those movies).

Hey L/M writers! I hope you all survived November, whether you were doing NaNoMo or writing 10 papers for higher education!

First off, there will be NO challenge for December – however, if you want to do something fun and challenging for the month of December, may I recommend the 6th annual Fic-Gift exchange? It’s a great way to turn your muse back on if it has fallen asleep on you. Also, the index is still messed up and not updated due to the truncating issue.

Now, to the meat of this post, my kiddies! I want to try something and you people (or whoever wants to participate) are my test subjects (so if this doesn’t work, don’t come at me brandishing lightsabers). The SJRS’ challenge for January (and it will possibly run into February) will be a plot bunny exchange.

A good many of us have plot bunnies nestling up in our brains, however, we can never seem to get the time or the motivation to write them. Here’s your chance to get rid of them. Everyone who wants to participate will PM me with a plot bunny they want to get rid of by December 22. I will compile them, with your names attached, and post them all at once on December 23. People will pick them – first come, first serve, and they will try their hardest to write that bunny and post it by January 31st.

    Some Rules:

    1. This is NOT a fic-gift exchange. If your bunny does not get picked or written, please don’t have any hard feelings. It is a risk you assume. That being said…

    2. Please try your hardest to write the bunny. If need be, ask for help, either from the person who the plot bunny originated with or someone else. If you are trying your hardest to write it, but can’t get it done by the deadline, just let us know.

    3. The plot bunny you submit can be of any length – it can be a 50 word summary of how it starts, or a 3000 word outline. Though it is up to the person who pick it, how much they want to write of it. If you think you want to transform the bunny you pick into your next 50,000 word epic, go for it. If you just want to do a one-shot summarizing the story, you can do that too.

    4. If you have an unfinished story you want to submit do that too. Either send along the link if it’s posted somewhere, or summarize what you have so far and put a note at the end that you do have some of it started and you are willing to send it to the person who picks it.

    5. All plot bunnies have to be LM bunnies.

    6. This is not a dare challenge. Don’t try to stump people.

    7. Because this will be first come, first serve, I will take the last bunny left. Please don’t be offended if that is yours.

    8. If you have any questions, just ask me, though I am figuring this out as I go.
