JCC I got fed up with the mothballs...

...so I came out of the closet.



As of today I am an openly gay man. And you know what? It feels great. I know it's a bit self centred to start an entire thread on this, but I can't express how difficult it's been to keep this away from my family for so long and, more importantly, how much relief I feel tonight. After hearing my grandmother's vicious barbs about today's news I just decided enough was enough, I no longer want to hear this crap from the people who are supposed to be my nearest and dearest. So in the car, on the way home, I just said to my mother "I'm gay." And that was it. I was shaky at first but am now so relieved.

Now I've been accepted for who I truly am I'm ready to pursue life to the fullest extent without the fear of judgement and persecution from my peers.

Yes, I wasn't making any secret of it on the internet. But this was a whole different league, something that I kept putting off until today.

 

Glad to hear of this, Chewgumma. It takes a lot of courage & self respect to do this in your actual life, and I admire/am a bit envious of that. Don't let anyone ruin your self respect.
