See, I took a slight interest, made a single Facebook post about the Tigers being the the World Series, and now they are getting their asses handed to them. I am a sports team jinx.

Hey, I recently just took a slight interest to the Giants, and now they're dominating :p

Didn't even know what on earth a NLCS or ALCS was until a few weeks ago when I wiki'd it.

Well I've always been a fan; just don't have much time to focus on sports. After all, I live on the Peninsula.

Considering I would have been a Giants fan had they stayed in New York (being a fan of the New York Football Giants and living in Manhattan where the Baseball Giants played) I feel obligated to root for them. Of course this means Tunick is secretly a Brooklynite.

    *raises hand*

Surprised, Tunick? :p One of my favorite sports-related memories is attending the first game ever played at AT&T Park with my family. It was an exhibition game. I think they played the Brewers. Giants won.

I used to sing the national anthem as part of my school choir one game per year.

I've been a fan of the Giants since '89 when I was forced to choose a side during the Battle of the Bay.

i was a giants fan throughout the 80's and probably still would be if i hadn't moved to the pacific northwest in ken griffey jr.'s rookie season. they're still the nl team that i pull for but i can't really consider myself a fan anymore.

My paternal grandmother was born in Brooklyn, but I've got no family connections to Minnesota. :p I do often think of the Dodgers tenure in Brooklyn, due to how long they were there/the impact they made/their eventual move (and the discussion that can still bring up)... I don't think too much about the Lakers Minneapolis days. As for the topic at hand, it's interesting to learn about all these Giant affiliations here on the brink of another title for the organization. As a baseball fan (which is still my #1 sport, though basketball is a very close #2), I can appreciate/respect the fact that such a storied franchise has accomplished these things in a 2 year span. But naturally the Dodger fan in me absolutely loathes all of this, is very annoyed, pissed off & wondering if the Dodgers couldn't at least do this once in my life. I'll be watching tonight, and shall the Giants win, I'll soak in the scene in front of me with envy. Good grief.

you might not think much about the lakers' minneapolis days, but every lakers fan includes the five championships they won there when they talk about how many titles the lakers have.

I mentioned it in relation to the Dodgers Brooklyn days: they were in Brooklyn for 60+ years, while the Lakers were in Minneapolis for 13... more history, etc. to think on the Dodgers end (even with the 5 Minneapolis titles). I do need to read up more on the Minneapolis days.
