Discussions EU characters you really dislike

Part of the annoyance factor with Callista was that she took over another woman's body, basicallly practising necromancy, and then she wonders why the KRIFF she can't touch the Force?! How about the fact that she's being kind of like a Sith Lord by trying to deny death? No wonder the Force didn't want anything to do with her!

 

Except for the Dark Side. Kind of fits...

 

The technique of transferring herself into the ship's computer in the first place was a bit grey.

I do feel sorry for her.

On the subject of characters to dislike...pretty much the entirety of the NJO-Era New Republic Senate. Sure, lets just sit on our behinds and not fight correctly. And before we forget...throw the Jedi to the hounds Voxyn

 

Hmm I see a few dislikes for Fey'lya...I oddly always liked him as a character. I know I was meant to dislike him but just never could.

As for characters I actually do dislike....

Jag - Captain Cardboard fits him soooo well
Admiral Niathal - She was extremely annoying through all of LotF and then come FotJ I'm supposed to feel sympathy for her? I'll pass.
Allana - Whilst this partly because of the character my main dislike is because I enjoy listening to the audiobooks sometimes when I can't sleep and they're always great up until the moment she's voiced.
Tahiri - This is mostly how she's written. One moment she's decided that she's accepted herself and finally figured out who she is, the next she's forgotten all that and is back to pining for Anakin.

 

Luke Skywalker. In the movie trilogy, Anakin turned to the darkside and became Darth Vader after being tempted by Palpatine, after dismembering Mace windu. Anakin gave in to temptation. In the originals, Luke had a very similar situation as his father, but did the exact opposite, stayed on the light side. It was both a parallel/repeating cycle and a stark contrast at the same time. Fantastic storytelling.

In the EU, I disliked how Luke turned to the darkside. It ruined/cheapened the moment in Episode 6, where he was just about to turn to the dark side, but stayed pure. Otherwise, I love the EU!

 

There's a lot of debate over whether Luke did in fact "turn" before Palpatine crushed his mind.

Some people argue that he never actually did anything evil- that Palpatine used the Dark Side to crush Luke's mind when he discovered he couldn't get Luke to turn of his own accord, so Luke even forgot who he was- but Leia helped him remember- this is based on an interpretation of the audio drama version of Dark Empire.

But discussion of that's better suited to its own thread.

I dislike many organizations that begin with new - New Jedi Order, New Republic, New Mandalorians, etc.

 

There are times when booster terrik bugged me to no end.

In no particular order: Corran Horn, Starkiller, Joruus C'baoth, Xizor, Etain, Skirata, and several characters in TCW.

 

Well, what I disliked more is how the authors wrote them in the way that made me dislike them in the first place.

 

So I know he didn't originate in the EU, but I cant stand Jar Jar Binks.

Don't really care for Allana either. That has more to do with how she is written though.

It was integral to Denning's dismantling any goodwill I ever had for him. Glad to see he hasn't stopped trying to put Frank Miller into Star Wars.

 

Okay, I missed something. Can someone refer me to the occasion that you two are referencing?

 

Rosh Penin, Daala, Jedi Council from Legacy because they were mostly OJO Jedi, Raynar Thul, Jacen Solo, Rahm Kota

 

That's funny you mention Rosh Penin Rumsmuggler: I've always wondered whether he was designed to be hated by the players or not. In all cases, I did hate him. When I played the game, I used to call him "Rosh Pénible" -- pénible being French for "tiresome."

As for other characters I strongly dislike, I won't even mention Ahsoka and the likes: it's no use beating a dead horse.

 

Invincible. After capturing Ben in a poorly thought out raid on Coruscant by the Jedi, Tahiri gets creepy.

She's what, 29-30 years old? And she dresses up like a hooker, strips Ben down to his underwear, and starts molesting him. It's bad enough that a 30 year old is sexually assaulting a teenager, but then she takes it one step further by doing this, while simultaneously torturing Lon Shevu to death in front of Ben.

 

I definitely forgot about that one.
