Lit What retcons if any would you like to see happen as a result Episode 7?

I personally would like to see a restored Skywalker-Solo family at the Vector Prime point in the story-line, only maybe with Ben having been born earlier. This would be a great cast and make it easy to bring non EU fans up to date with the story. It would be nice to see Jacen, Anakin, and Jaina along with other NJO members take the forefront in this new story.

Also which EU villain would you like to see as the antagonist?
I am assuming they will be Sith.
Anyways what would you like to see?

I'm okay with putting Star wars back on track to happy endings but if not, skipping ahead a few hundred years.

Soft continuity reboot, much like DCU did last year.

This is a prime opportunity to get rid of stupid crap and resolve continuity snares.

 

I haven't read any of it, so I'm not judging it or anything, but maybe everything from Vector Prime and on. Vector Prime would be an alternate timeline where the Yuuzhan Vong found their way into the galaxy.

 

There is not nor could there ever be an Abeloth.

 

I kinda like Ableloth and her story line. I think I'm in the minority, but I enjoyed FotJ. I think it could be neat to see it as a trilogy at some point (not for 7, 8, and 9).

 

I liked the idea of her in Abyss. Once Luke killed her a few times I lost interest. I lost interest with a vengeance.

 

I actually wondered in the Disney thread if Abeloth's redesign mid-FOTJ into a Mortis creature is specifically because of what has now happened, with the whole weird Bringer of Chaos thing tied into some sort of generic time distortion reset storyline.

With how much fantasy pseudo-science FOTJ gave us about altering the flow of the Force, the alternate universe timeline graphs in Back to the Future suddenly come to mind as "Abeloth swept her hands through the air and the flow was sent back in another direction".

 

If they intend to use any of the original actors (fingers crossed) I can see it taking place post-FOTJ, in which case they really don't need to make much mention of most of the EU except to have Ben & Jaina as the main characters with Luke & co as the supporting ones.

 

Personally, I wouldn't like to see any retcons but if they do make one then I suspect pretty much everything will be retconned.

 

There probably will be lots of annoying little details altered for no reason, like the "Jedi can't have wives/husbands" rule from Episode II, and the EU has once again bend over backwards to make everything fit.

 

Wedge has a much bigger role. As in, he doesn't get relegated to cameos in "mainstream" novels. Barring that, I'll settle for the cameos.

 

DNT/LOTF/FOTJ can be retconned. If they must retcon the NJO, Anakin Solo must live and Jacen must not be a pacifist/hermit type.

Nom Anor as main villain. Rogue Warlord if they change the NJO

 

I'd like to see Episodes I-III retconned out of existence.

 

They will be... in a fashion. I bet money on the "films every 2 or 3 years" after the ST being PT Special Edition re-releases that have Ahsoka edited into them.

 

Minor retcons will include a shuffling of The Clone Wars timeline, erasing Obsession from the timeline, a large mass burning of previous continuity Star Wars works, a public execution of dissenters who prefer the old timeline, and a few minor date changes.

Sounds like you're pitching an episode of the Twilight Zone.

 

Luke and Leia knowing about Padme and their family history right away. There's no reason Obi-Wan couldn't have told Luke off-screen in RotJ.

 

That's a must as well
