What actors would everyone want to see in Episode 7?

Let's wonder. What if they were rebooting the franchise? Luke, Leia and Han recast?

Or perhaps the Timothy Zahn Triology. Grand Admiral Thrawn? Mara Jade? Talon Karrde?

    Or even Yuuzhan Vong?

I'd cast Christoph Waltz as Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Jennifer Lawrence as Leia and Han's daughter.

Maybe JGL as Luke and Mara's son?

    The Rock as Onimi.

    Emma Roberts as Ashoka Tano.

Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker (possibly older, or possibly as a Force Ghost, depending on the timeframe).
    Anthony Daniels as C-3PO
Kenny Baker as R2-D2 (all he has to do is get in the can once, for the rest it can be remote controlled or CGI)
    Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon Jinn

Not particularly imaginative, I know, but I'm really not sure just what these new films are going to be about.

And no, I don't want a Hayden Christensen Force Ghost Anakin - let's take these new films as a fresh start & leave such matters behind, shall we?

It is FAR to early to speculate about things like this.

Anthony Daniels as C-3PO is the only logical guarantee.

It will mostly be unknowns anyways with two or three classical actors like it has always been as well.

Mark Hamill *might* have a small cameo as a force ghost or something but thats about it.

Chewbacca could be in it (seeming as wookies can live to be hundreds of years old) and that would be fine. Rational, logical things like this are fine with me. Lets just try to be realistic.

So C-3PO, R2-D2 and maybe Chewbacca. Maybe a quick honorable, satisfying cameo by Luke as a force ghost or "anchent hologram" or something like that.

Ihave not read a good EU book...so I hope to good they dont go down that path..but I hope for a cast of unknowns like game of thrones ( or Original Star Wars )...A couple of seasoned actors but the rest unknowns

You can almost guarantee - C3PO, R2D2, Chewbacca and Luke (as the sage older Jedi Master).

Pretty much everyone else will be new, I expect since the announcements have said 'original story' it means it will not be anyone from the EU.

Yes, I completely overlooked the obvious in imagining what, if any characters from the original will feature.

I think we can safely say that Artoo and Threepio will be in it.

I need to say two things at the top of this post:
    1) They're not rebooting the franchise
    2) They're not making an adaptation of any of the existing EU material

Now, with that out of the way, I think it's likely that the stories will be based at least in part on the treatments that Lucas gave Kathy Kennedy, and, depending on how closely said treatments match the existing information we have about the ST from years past, I think it is incredibly likely that we'll see Artoo, Threepio, and at least one of the 'big 3' (likely Luke) appear in at least one of the new films, with the droids probably being the only characters to appear in all 3 films, thus making them the only characters to appear in every film in the Saga.

Not necessarily. I doubt that the EU will be completely ignored just because the films won't be direct adaptations of any existing EU material; if I had to make a definite statement one way or the other regarding the EU material, I would say that I think it is highly likely that we'll see some things in the ST that were influenced the EU just as we saw some things in the PT that were influenced by the EU, be it place names, character names, or even a plot element or two.

It would be awesome if the OT's main cast returned and the movies introduced their children.

Unfortunately, if the EU is going to be considered as canon, this would mean most likely that Chewbacca wouldn't feature (though I can't imagine any real fan would object to his resurrection) since Episode would have to skip forward at least 30 years if it were to feature Hamill and company.

Hamill and Williams might be up for another spin in the Falcon. I wonder if Fisher would?

And can Ford be persuaded back?

They'll consider the millions of audience members who are not fans or just fans of the movies too.

As a complete fan (though I have fallen behind on the literature) there are aspects that I dislike about the EU - mainly the Legacy comic book series both for rehashing the basic plot of the movies and the return of Sith emperors.

But, I also don't like Jacen Solo going to the dark side. Again rehashing the same ground. (I haven't got there yet in the reading so I don't know if he becomes a Sith or just a Dark Jedi)

** Just to add - by "rehashing the same ground" I merely mean another "Skywalker" falling into the Dark Side - I'm not criticizing the arc or writing both because most of the books have been awesome and because haven't read it. **

The Yuzhaan Vong would have been awesome villains for a new trilogy.

Hopefully we'll get something like that - an enemy army for the Jedi that isn't made Force user but can go toe to toe in a fight with them.

I'm looking forward to more information being released in the future.

I love the speculation, but the actual movie could literally be about anything,.

I just pray that Luke is the main character.

^ I doubt he will be, particularly if the story treatments Lucas gave Kathy Kennedy are in any way similar to the existing information we have from years past concerning the ST; if Luke appears (something that I personally think is likely), it will be in the 'Obi-Wan' role from Episodes IV-VI, which means that he'll have a significant role but won't be THE main character.

I never really liked Mara Jade.

Or any of Zahn's characters, except for the Imperials and the Noghri.

So, who would you guys like to see the new trilogy focus on?

    The original heroes?

    Their children?

    Both?

A whole new generation of the Skywalker/Solo clan not mentioned in the EU?

    Really? Why not Witwer?

Though should we not stay on point about the character speculation?

The movies are about the Skywalkers - Lucas has always said that.

Then again - why not I suppose!!!

New cast... I really don't know.

My feeling is that Mark Hamill will return for a supporting role as master Luke (if he manages to lose a lot of flab). Han will be dead (possibly referenced in the opening crawl) and Leia will be missing. Leia will return either at the end of Ep7 or later as a dark Jedi and be re-cast.

There is a thread in Episode 7 forum covering casting of the film.

    This doesn't belong here.
