Which do you think will make more money?

My bet is on E7, but I think it'll be pretty close.

If whichever one has a clearly much better story, that one. If both have similarly good stories, advantage Avengers. If both have similarly bad stories, advantage SW.

    Avengers.

I just can't wait for 2015. Avengers 2, Ant-Man, Justice League and now Episode 7.

If the buzz on this one can be good enough, I am thinking it trumps Avengers 2 and easily eclipses the hauls of the individual prequels.

I don't know, it doesn't really matter, they're both going to make a lot.

Honestly, probably Episode VII, for similar reasons Episode I made so much money.

At that time, fans will have been waiting 10 years for Episode VII, instead of 3 like for the new Avengers movie. We'll see, it will be close. A dumb idea would be to keep Episode VII in the May timeslot, unless Disney/Marvel can move Avengers 2 to July.

Who knows but if Episode VII does make the 2015 date, Disney will own the year. I believe Justice League is a movie when production wraps and not before.

We need to give Disney leeway on the release year.

    It might be 2016.

But if it does get released in 2015, it will mean that Star Wars is losing it traditional May release because Avengers 2 is out in May.

Episode 7 by a mile. If the casting is done right and the story looks good in the previews.

After waiting 3 decades we'll finally get the chance to see Jedi Master Luke Skywalker and the new Jedi Order, Episode VII will certainly get more of my money.

I know I will be seeing both, but the better story will get more repeat viewings.

Honestly, I think the fan base is larger for SW. I think Episode 7 takes it.

Won't be seeing the second Avengers after the mind-numbingly unintelligent first.

    Bash! Bash! Bash! Bore!

    Episode VII

I think they're pretty much on par.

Though I highly doubt they will release the same year. Would Disney really want Star Wars (typically coming out in May) potentially taking revenue away?

as mentioned above, star wars has the larger fanbase, and the anticipation for the sequel trilogy has been around for much longer than the avengers sequel (which i don't think will make as much as its predecessor). episode VII making more money is also pretty much guaranteed if any of the main OT cast members return.

Disagree, I think it's advantage SW right out of the gate based on pent up anticipation for a new installment. You take something away that people love for a while and bring it back, people come rushing to it like they've been starving!

Yes, but I'm guessing that Disney is going to try to topple the monolith that is Titanic and Avatar, and they'll try to do it with both movies. Releasing them around the same time would just neuter both of them, really.

Realistically? AVENGERS 2. It's be the sequel to the critically acclaimed and 3rd moss highest grossing movie of all time. It could be crap and people will still see it.

E7 will make a huge amount as well, but it'll need it's share of critical acclaim and word of mouth to persuade those who are very worried about another SW film after the PT. Your not going to see people go as crazy for E7 as they did for TPM before it came out.
