    I'm thinking Matthew Stover.
Though the hatred of EU writers in the film boards is obvious...
    What do you think?

Timothy Zahn has always been the best EU author imo.

Is this like the director thread, where people list unrealistic choices because they like them and not because they would necessarily make a good director? If so, and we're just wildly spraying fangasm everywhere - I enjoyed and have enjoyed for a decade now, the works of George RR Martin. Even though he would never do a novelisation nor is his writing style remotely suited to Star Wars, I feel as a fanboy I can make this suggestion in a serious and earnest fashion.

Ayn Rand. Now there is an author who knows how to convey empire-building.

Seconded. Leave aside the invention of the duck, he was the first guy to name Palpatine in text. And anyone who's an Alien fan appreciates his work on the first three novelisations in that franchise: "Two dreamers," anyone?

    For the Sequel Trilogy:

Luceno should write one (the master of continuity), Stover should write another (for sheer awesomeness), and even though I'm not his biggest fan I think Zahn should write another (for helping Star Wars find new life in the 1990's and setting the post-ROTJ stage).

Tim Akers would do a good job His Horns of Ruin book was a great story that easily fit in a larger story which is what episode VII will be one part of a larger whole.

Zhan is overrated, and frankly, the Thrawn trilogy sucks. Stover has written many of my favorites.

I vote for Luceno, Stover, and Denning, in that order.

If Stover does Episodes 7-9 in the style of his ROTS novel I want him. Luceno has stated he prefers working in the PT era and Zahn doesn't want to do anything NJO on. Since this might overwrite the NJO on we might get Zahn to do it. I do not want Denning to do it.

I'd go for Stover or Luceno. I just can't get into Zahn's writing as much. I have the SW books he's done but I'm not a fan of Thrawn. I did enjoy the Mara Jade/Emperor's Hand books he did though

Matthew Stover. RotS is hands down the best movie novelization so far. Although I really liked Luceno's Cloak of Deception and Labyrinth of Evil as set-up novels to the prequels.

Stover is by far the best choice. Zahn is a far second (and would he even want to write the novel that likely erases the history he created with the Thrawn books?)
