How righteous of you. Mine is from the upcoming Evil Dead remake. Do you think that is ok?

To be fair, I think GargantuanThrillMachine's avatar is a woman enjoying some spaghetti. I don't see any vomit.

    Very close to zero.

They didn't. Sony has the rights for Spider-Man and they have to do a sequel/remake/reboot from time to time in order to keep those rights.

    1. Your avatar depicts a vomiting woman, which as the widower of a woman who died from complications of bulimia, I find offensive. It's also a violation of the TOS, but I'll let the mods decide that one.
    2. You're ignoring the rest of the definition, most notably the words "picturesque" and "natural". Picturesque speculation? It's nonsense.
    3. I follow your post and the attempt at mockery you made WRT my own phrasing. I'll be as defensive and petulant as I choose to be within the TOS.

Your self expression isn't doing a successful job of conveying his self expression...

I don't see the point in rebooting a universe people of all ages are familiar with. Perhaps they could get more moolah that way but i highly doubt it. The Spiderman reboot is different because of origins of the story i.e. the comics. Star Trek reboot wasn't even Star Trek.

Star Wars isnt the type that needs a reboot cause it can still make money. You can re-release the OT right now and make 40 million but try to re-release Star Trek II and see what you get, or the 1990 Total Recall.

no it doesn't. are you blind, or just willfully ignorant? and do you have to pick only one of the two?

hey i have a brilliant idea: let's pick one, and ONLY one, of the several definitions of the word and ignore the rest. if i may say so, this is a very dangerous way to go about your life

    i rest my case

So, in summary: " I'll be as defensive and petulant as I choose to be within the TOS "

Maybe some unused subplots from the early Empire scripts will be used? Han Solo in search of his step-father Ovan Marekal ...Lando is a clone...

Well, I guess back to the point..
Full reboot. I don't see different actors playing the iconic roles, but I would not be surprised to see different characters in the same universe. If >I< had purchased a franchise for 4B, I'd use the concepts to build my own line of characters that would encourage an entire new group of fans.

Because there is too many flaws...I mean 5 out of the 6 are decent to good while Empire was great. Why not have all 6 be great???

^ That, right there, is the single most ridiculous reason I think I've ever heard. There are not 'too many flaws' in the PT vs. the OT; any flaws that the PT has are flaws that are also present in the OT; they just seem to be more easily and readily nitpicked in the PT due to the whole 'nostalgia factor'.

It is entirely possible for Disney to greedily make big bucks without having to wipe out or reboot the Expanded Universe Canon as we know it. How can this be?

    1. The big bucks from the movies tend to be driven by youth
    2. Youth are more impressed by special effects than story
    3. Youth have probably not read as much EU as long time fans
    4. Disney might figure this out
    5. New movie could incorporate existing EU continuity and add special effects
    6. Youth would think this is new and exciting
    7. the rest of us would be happy that EU still exists in a shiny new medium
    8. Disney figures this out and everyone wins!

Being that the only speculation at this point regarding the new trilogy(or -ies) is that some of the stuff comes from what's been floating out there for ages, that Lucas sat down to lunch with Hammill and Fisher, and that it was already moving forward with the new head of Lucasfilm before the Disney deal was even announced lends to the fact that Episode VII will be a sequel, at least to the same universe. I would think along the lines of the rebooted Bond franchise, Dame Judy Dench has remained as M, and from what I understand, the new Q will respect the old Q. Same universe, but spun off in a new direction. I'd love a bit of continuity to show it's a proper Episode VII instead of just capitalizing on a name (which of course is entirely possible/plausable, Star Wars will print money even when it stinks), so perhaps old man Luke, either in passing or in a direct role with new characters. But I'm eager to see new characters. That universe is already huge with a lot of wiggle room to play and keep canonical and EU fans happy. One day, a remake will happen, it just will, and hopefully when that comes those bastards will look back on the originals and fix what needs to be fixed with focused hindsight, but these new upcoming movies most certainly will be in the same linear timeline as Episode's I-VI. I would actually be TOTALLY cool with 3PO and R2 staying in every movie.

That would be interesting. The only information we ever got about Han's back story was in the Han Solo trilogy and the Corellia Trilogy.

When he rescued Kyp from the spice mines, he shared a lot there as well. Also, in the newest series, as he's older, he's reminiscing and sharing a lot of his past with Alana.
