Your still saying you wanted a Han Solo clone.

Well, I believe Star Wars the First spread by word of mouth, but Avatar did have a bit of hype before it.

Though I can't say as I recall exactly.

Subset: Heckler Trolling - Example"...so you regularly find yourself farming water on a desert planet, fighting crime in a rubber suit, fighting aliens and making out with red skinned women, brawling with Nazis on runaway tanks, climbing up the..."

Is personally mocking the person you are having a discussion with cool to do on this forum?

That's not a requirenment, nor it is a justification for better written and developed characters.

Of course it's not a requirement, but it is a big part of what made the originals work. If soemthing worked well, it makes sense to adopt that formula when you do more of the same thing.

It received poor word of mouth, and when looking at the trailers the plot seemed uninteresting. There was nothing 'cutting edge' about it, it was simple CGI.

Star Wars Episode VII will not have the same issue, given by the fact by default it's being considered part of the Star Wars saga.

    Who was mocking?

I was making a point based on the fictional characters we both used as examples.

No - Solo and Ford was just one element.

Lucas wasn't trying to replicate the "formula" - because he chose to do something original.

Replicating the same thing is just remaking it.

That is why there wasn't another smooth talking gambler con artist or another Wookie type character.

The PT wasn't original, it had largely the same formula and characters as the OT.

Jar Jar was the alien substitute for Chewbacca, he wasn't as good but he filled that role.

Dude, you been arguing that the PT was nothing like the OT.

Now you are saying it was more or less the same.

    Make up your mind!!

Matey, you'll have to look yourself. Like I said I don't have the time nor do I care about the acting.
This eating into my Lego POTC time ;)

I keep trying to log out but there is always a new alert and I don't want to be rude and for people to think I'm ignoring them.

My slice of cake was eaten while I've posting here :(

Let's say Lobot as an example.

I found no truth in the eyelids opening ;)

You clearly don't read. I said it lacked some things that the OT had, but it was very similar in a lot of ways. The main difference was the lack of Han-type character, other than that it did most things the same way.
It just didn't do them as well as the OT, IMO

I wish people would learn to cut down the quote trees to only the last one or two posts instead of all of the last 6.

    ANH
Luke and Leia. They shout a lot and ham it up. Hey, that's probably why they were cast.
    Most of the extras.

    TESB
    The Han/Leia love scenes.
    The mynock scene.

    ROTJ
    "Hold me. "
Han and 3PO's little comedy scene
Han. Particularly during the second half of the movie.

But like I've said before, it's a stylistic choice. Most sci-fi acting and writing is ... not watched for the drama.

I'm fairly new to this and I'm on a phone so it isn't easy managing the quotes.

I'm reading but I don't think your understanding me.

Putting in a character like Solo would be just trying a cheap trick.

And Luke, Chewie and Leia aren't copied either as someone claimed earlier (not sure I'd it was you or another)

Anakin and Padme have a small few traits that Luke and Leia have but that is just the way families are. His anger at Endor wasn't a selfish act to save one person for himself. He was angry that a lot of good people had been lured into a trap to be destroyed. He acted to save them at the cost of his soul. How much real remorse did Anakin ever so for the Tuskens or Dooku?

Anakin was doomed to fall, not because we knew it was coming, but because of the flaws in his character. He wanted to be a good man but he was full of arrogance and anger, and he became a killer.

Luke was always a good, decent person and I don't think there is ever a real danger he could fall like the old man.

Likewise with Leia and Padme. Both had the same drive and capabilities but the similarities end there.

And Binks wasn't intended to be, nor was he, a Chewie replacement.

It's more capable than Apple... my friends who have iPhones are always amazed at what my phone is capable of... It's very much like that Samsung Galaxy III commercial where all the iPhone-ites are in line and this guy with a Samsung Galaxy III does something with his phone and the people are like "When do we get a feature like that? With the next one?" [face_laugh]

Yes but that commercial is a fantasy story like all claims of anything being superior to Apple ;)

BTW, my phone isn't the cause of my difficulties - its just my paws :)
