Last year in the JCC, we had a separate thread in order to contain all the comments and reactions during the last few days leading into, and immediately after, the Presidential election. It makes sense to do the same thing in the new combined forum.

This is a JCC thread, with all the usual expected rules etc. In-depth discussion will continue in the old Senate thread: http://boards.theforce.net/threads/united-states-presidential-election-2012.31577156/

My state doesn't have early voting (besides absentee) so I'm looking forward to waking up on Tuesday morning, walking up the street to the local elementary school and casting my ballot.

    Same here.

Pew's final poll is now 50-47 Obama. Amazing how it has shifted.

    Peace,

Though I think Virginia and North Carolina will go to Romney, the rest will break for Obama and lead to his re-election

Edit: Can't seem to link to my map correctly. I think it will be 290-248 for Obama in the Electoral Vote

My prediction: Obama will win, and it won't be as close as people are expecting, not nearly as close as 2000. It will just be 2008, minus a few states like Indiana, North Carolina, and probably Florida.

Colorado, Florida, and Virginia will be the closest.

    Obama 303 EV:

Would it be a good idea to add a poll to the thread?

I'd be interested to know what Romney's inner circle is actually saying right now, both to Romney and amongst themselves.

I don't think so. Any such poll would become outdated in short order.

    PPP VA poll

    Obama-51
    Romney-47

They nailed it back in 2008.

Nate Silver and Five Thirty Eight's data has remained consistent through the Fall. The President might lose Florida, Virginia and Colorado, will definitely lose North Carolina--but will win the electoral college handily. Romney's campaign isn't projecting confidence in the outcome--a lot of stunts in the final days (emphasis on Obama saying "revenge" and showing up in Pennsylvania.) It's pretty clear that Pennsylvania is budging, without Ohio--he has few routes to 270.

My prediction was always Obama 303 and Romney 235.

NC and FL will be close, but the decline in early voting there will likely give Romney both of them.

Well I voted Obama. (Absentee vote) Not that my vote matters much in Massachusetts. My brother, however, is in a key district in Colorado, so his vote will definitely make a difference. [face_flag]

Meh, I'm getting rather annoyed at people who say their vote doesn't count. Even if doesn't contribute at all to the electoral college tally, having a high number in the popular vote still confers legitimacy to a candidate. And if we hate the electoral college, how else are we going to get rid of it other than by voting and waiting for the next Al Gore scenario to create impetus for change?

I mean, I know it counts in the grand scheme of things, but in terms of the actual election not so much, for such a solidly democratic state such as mine at least. I'll keep voting, no matter what.

This has been a huge feature of Romney's whole campaign, and one that baffles me to no end. At times it seems like he didn't even have a campaign, so much as a cable news gaffe fest. "You didn't build that," "Revenge," "The private sector is doing fine." Time and again, they invested huge effort into single sentences by Obama ripped wholly out of context and waved around as emblematic as some evil socialist. In fact, Romney has probably dedicated more to this sort of thing than the official Obama campaign has to the 47% comments. After all, "You didn't build that" was an entire theme day of the Republican National Convention.

Did none of his advisers pause to think that maybe people give their votes more consideration than "lol look what he said?"

I'm sure a number of people here have already seen this, but it's worth watching, if only for the amount of unintentional parody in it: !

The interviewer is a better person than I am for being able to keep a straight face.

I saw their interviews with people at the Glenn Beck rally way back when. Needless to say it scared me ****less/made me laugh my ass off.

Going to try to go in and vote as soon as the polls open on Tuesday morning. This will be my first presidential election, and I'm excited to do my part.

I won't be able to vote until after I get off from work, but I will more than enough time from that point to do so.

Of course, we all know what's really at stake on Tuesday:

Whether we'll have four more years of Joe Biden.

i think that one woman in that rally video was having a stroke on camera

it would explain why she's attending a romney rally, anyways

i mean seriously i get that scared white people are voting for romney, fine, but i still cant fathom the notion of anyone actually rallying for romney; actually getting excited about willard mitt ******* romney

on a different note, i am a fan of that interviewer's absolute dead straight face at all times. that's gotta take a lot of practice

Try watching the Glenn Beck rally. Same interviewer, but I swear everyone he interviews is a total and complete idiot, who should not be allowed to have a say in anything important. [face_sigh]
