Jade Shadow or Sabre... There's nothing like a pretty ship with turbolasers on it!

They look waaaaaaaaaay too much like BSG Vipers. I get the shared design heritage (McQuarrie), but still overly similar.

The Skywalker family van: can't you just see it, with a slot for R2 in the back?

"Pile in kids, we're off to fight the remnants of the Empire!"

The Lady Luck, for the Billy Dee cameo that it would imply.

I like the eclipse star destoryer idea. The gravity well generators was as awesome idea in the TT. And once again it's an idea they can easily bring forward into these films. I think it's the natural progression for military ships - rebels keep getting away at the last second - build something to stop that. Audience's will be down with that.

It's something that could turn the OT on it's head, which is something they should be trying for.

I'd be happy with the E-Wings :) It's a nice homage to the X-Wings but shows evolution in their design.

    This.
Although if there was a good reason for why a familiar ship appears, then I'd be fine with it. (and the reason would have to be clear in the movie, not just in the novelization)
I'd like to see some actual progress in vehicles. Like a ship that looks kinda like a Lambda class shuttle, but is more "evolved". I don't know how it is in the EU, but there seems to be virtually no technological progress to speak of in the Star Wars universe.
Just give me ships that aren't shiny and glossy. They've got to be a little used and dirty.

    I'm also hoping for a one-legged ATST, like a pogo-walker.

I'd love to see a scene at some Galctic Republic "Never Again!" type museum/exhibit. General Solo and Grand Poobah Skywalker walking among relics of the whole freaking series. Just to see a beat-up Naboo fighter next to an ESB snow speeder.

That'd be awesome having an interdicor cruiser used to rip a ship out of hyperspace for an ambush!

There is a resemblance, but I wouldn't say it's a total rip off by any means. Rather, they both look like X-Wings... and I think the E-Wing has license to.

Yes that is perfect! What a great idea and would set the precedence of the film perhaps where the bad guys are doing the running and hiding trying to regroup.

That has been done before, in the Novel JEDI CHICKS, Darth Hefner publisher of Play Sith has a private museum with a collection of twelve antique or rare star fighters, that is until the JEDI CHICKS inspire Jaxxon's daughter Jazz to lead the Sith Bunnies in an escape and they Hijack his collection and form the Vouge Squadron

As much as i want to see x wings, the Millenium Falcon etc, i really want to see some imagination applied to some new vehicles. I remember being overawed at the walkers oh hoth - big yanks on legs!!!, So cool. And then being tripped up by small speeders diving between them. And in Jedi, speeder bikes flying thru the trees at hundreds of miles an hour. I love the PT but for me it felt derived from the OT in so many ways, not least a lack of imagination for a lot of the vehicles. I want to see vehicles that look different, do different things, and belong in different environments.

I remember the first images of the naboo starfighters in the hanger being released and being convinced they were some sort of jetski type vehicle. In fact i think maybe lots of people thought that at the time. That is one avenue for a future vehicle to go down - we still haven't really seen a big water battle - kashyyyk didnt last long.

Remember the Prequels when we got all new ships? We no longer had the classic X-Wings or Tie Fighters. I didn’t mind, I really liked that. But how about the ST? I mean there has been no dramatic turn of events, there’s no Jedi hiding any more. The Rebels already have ships. The only thing that different is the Empire is (most likely) destroyed, the Jedi can come back, there’s no more Sith, (for now) it doesn’t seem that changed. (Speculation of course)
The only major change is the Empire is gone, FREEDOM! And this is a game changer. The Empire no longer controls your actions, you’re free. That might mean more new ships right? And not the mention the rebels are (most likely) now going to be the main power in the universe right? They’ll have more credits to spend on things. They’ll have a bigger budget. But does that mean there will be new ships.
And how about the Jedi, they are bound to return, will they want a Jedi Star fighter to identify themselves as Jedi, or do they want to stay concealed in an average fighter, or maybe the Jedi can choose their ships?
Not the mention the Empire to, I’m sure we’ll see some sort of remnant of them, depending on the time frame; they may also need new ships. Are they in a weaker position? Maybe they have less of a budget? Maybe they are aiming for a more peaceful Empire, maybe they are more evil? They’re ships should reflect they’re status.

Here’s what I think they should do.

I personally think they should keep most of the ships the same, but give them a bit of a more menacing look. Make them more agile, and tougher. I’d also like to see the Jedi star fighters return, with a bit of a different look, but mostly the same. Also, I’d like to see a few completely new fighters. And if there are sith, give them cool ships like Darth Maul’s! It’s simple!

So what’s your opinion? What do you want? What don’t you want? What would work best? And what would be flat out awesome!?!?!?!
Go ahead, LET THE SPECULATION BEGIN!
