Lit What book was written after Splinter of the Minds Eye?

I don't mean what comes next in the timeline, (although it may be the same book) but if Splinter was published in 1978, what was the next book published after this?

 

Han Solo at Stars’ End (which would have been the next) and Han Solo’s Revenge were both published in 1979

Huh. 2012 has only 5 SW books being released. Most years have 8 books or more. I thought it was a lean year.

 

The six anthologies should be added to that wookiepedia list.

We also have The Old Republic: Annihilation and LTOTS: TCS. That makes 7

 

That list is missing Revan ( 2011 ).

 

I thought Scoundrels was now due out in 2013 - Jan or Feb, I believe? (Or is that just Amazon mis-dating stuff..)

Splinter of the Mind's Eye? Otherwise affectionately known as Rat in the Brain.

 

how is splinter of the minds eye? i picked it up at a secondhand store for $1. I havent read it yet because all I hear are bad reviews. Is it any good and/or worth reading?

 

Wow....haven't seen that before. I'm not so sure I would wanna see that one in a movie...
How is the blade even thin enough to cut that fine?

 

Is there no love for The Maverick Moon?

 

Its decent. A fun little read about a small adventure on one small planet. Really just the kind of story I like, and the kind that's been missing from the Post-Bantam Era. Some of the moments between Luke and Leia are a little creepy if you take into account Return of the Jedi where Leia says she's always known about Luke being her brother. But you can let it slide if you just realize that that little fact probably wasn't planned out that far back. I think both Luke and Leia are portrayed in pretty solid ways, and Vader's doing his thing as the big bad Sith Lord.

 

It's a great book, and Halla is the best character in it. I really wish that she had been featured in subsequent stories, even if only to show up on Yavin IV with a new batch of Jedi candidates for Luke.

 

Something like this inevitably crops up every time Splinter is discussed, but they're never cited. I've read the book several times and can never seem to remember those moments...am I just willfully forgetting/reinterpreting them?

Moistly parted in sleep, her lips seemed to beckon to him. He leaned closer, seeking refuge from the damp green and brown of the swamp in that hypnotic redness.

He hesitated, pulled back. She was an aristocrat and Rebel leader. For all he’d accomplished above Yavin, he was still only a pilot and, before that, a farmer’s nephew. Peasant and Princess, he mused disgustedly.

His assignment was to protect her. He wouldn’t abuse that trust, no matter his own hopeless hopes. He would defend against anything that leapt out of the darkness, crawled from the slime, dropped from the gnarled branches they walked under. He would do it out of respect and admiration and possibly out of the most powerful of emotions, unrequited love.

He would even defend her from himself, he determined tiredly. In five minutes he was fast asleep.

The Princess grew aware of how tightly she was clinging to him. Their proximity engendered a wash of confused emotion. It would be proper to disengage, to move away a little. Proper, but not nearly so satisfying.

 

Thanks--I remembered the "defend her from himself" line, but not the "lusting after sleeping Leia" bit. I think that paragraph operates on the same principle as the Silencel--I forget it's there the second I look away.

Also, "hopeless hopes"...that's either brilliant pulp or godawful schlock, depending on your point of view...
