    lol... I don't actually believe that you're a noob... probably a sock.

Also, I have a strong suspicion that you may be very white.

There are some very interesting/unexpected results from the 2012 elections... and it's not all about the Hispanics.

    1. Generation Y voters (the Millenials)
    * 19% of voters were under the age of 30 (and that was only 50% turnout, about the same as 2008)... and 60% of them voted for Obama
    * only 16% of voters were over the age of 65
    * If Romney and the Republicans had just split the Youth vote, they would have won
    * The Youth vote is now more politically important than the Senior Citizen vote!

    2. Gay/Lesbian voters
    * about 5% of voters admitted they were gay/lesbian/bisexual
    * 76% of them voted for Obama
    * But Romney and Obama are tied 49%-49% among "straight" voters
    * If Romney and the Republicans had just split the Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual vote, they would have won

    3. Asian-American voters
    * lots of attention has been given to Hispanics... but Asians are actually immigrating to the country more than Hispanics now, and they're the fastest-growing demographic
    * 76% of Asian-American citizens voted for Obama, an even higher proportion than the Hispanics did

    4. Mormon voters
*Romney in 2012 actually did WORSE among Mormon voters than Bush did in 2004 (Bush won 80% nationwide, Romney won 78% nationwide)

    5. Democrats won the "popular vote" for the House of Representatives in 2012
    * Boehner claims a mandate because they only lost 7 seats
    * In reality, more Americans voted for Democratic House candidates than Republican House candidates
    * Gerrymandering is the reason why the House stayed red

Lastly, here's an interesting graph that Nate Silver posted on 538:

    EDIT:

Oh, and it's finally official that Obama won Florida by over 70,000 votes.

Can they fix their voting system already?

What point are you trying to make here? No one has said that African-Americans could not support Romney. We said his campaign made explicitly racial appeals to white people, and the overwhelming majority of his support was white. The fact that you found one black Republican on Youtube doesn't change that anymore than Condoleeza's presence within the party. Tokens don't excuse bad behavior.

7 seats to lose is still a lot considering during presidential races only about 2 seats flip.

I thought that slur was on Twitter.

Anyway...she is hardly the only one. A cartographer friend of mine posted a map of racist tweets by state to show where the greatest concentration of them was located. No surprise that they came from Alabama and Mississippi. Rhode Island had the lowest concentration with no racist tweets.

    Here

    seriously?

this gives me a headache, yes the president is black! How are these people going to deal with a rapidly industrializing African continent?

These people could kill trade oportunities and embaras the US on a global scale.

I am suprised the US has maintained as good relations between with the carribean and south american nations.

They'll blame Obama for granting favors to his Kenyan relatives, or something.

    That's already happening.

    Damn! [face_laugh]

Also, I should not have been looking at that photo while listening to this:

'Cause my head starting making it seem like the vocal chorus was singing 'Barack Obama' and that's probably not what they were originally singing giving that this track was probably done in 2007.

Found this and had to share:

Same-sex marriage and recreational marijuana use being legalized on the same day, makes perfect biblical sense.

Leviticus does say that a man who lays with another man should be stoned.

They've just been interpreting it wrong all these years.

This guy always has the best maps after the election.

Perhaps the most useful is the final product, a cartogram where counties are sized to reflect their populations, and votes are indicated using a non-linear scale where solid red = 70+% Romney and solid blue = 70+% Obama, with shades of purple in-between.

I can't wait for the maps to come out that show which countries became more Democratic/Republican in the presidential election, compared to 2008.
