Do you guys consider Leia to be a Princess still in ESB and ROTJ? She is referred to as "Princess Leia" a few times (mostly in ESB) and in the EU they even refer her as Princess of Alderaan, so what do you guys think?

My vote goes to no, what is she a heir too? She'd be Queen by now.

I always assumed that she was called Princess in ESB and the EU because people were used to calling her that by that point, and it just kinda stuck.

Look at Princess Di. After all these years, she's been divorced from the royal family, and has died since then, but she's still referred to as Princess Diana(or Di).

For both cases, it's just a title of respect, even after any power belonging to that title is gone.

    yupp.
Her planet may be gone, but her familial ties remain. We have Native American royalty who don't have truly autonomous nations anymore, but there is still the families they are from. Also, Jimmy Carter is still called President Carter sometimes. An honorific, if not functional.
Another questions is: do you still consider Padme as a queen?

    I thought Princess wasn't Diana's proper title.

But it's how we address her.

Yeah, I think the "Princess" was just an honorific after Alderaan. Something used out of respect, but by no means required.

Exactly my point. Something done out of respect for what happened to Alderaan

Yes she is. Just because Alderaan was destroyed doesn't mean she loses her title. She may be adopted into the royal family but she is still Alderaan's princess.

Princess Diana is a perfect example. She became Princess of Wales when she married Prince Charles. Even after their divorce she was still called Princess Diana because there was no other Princess of Wales. Charles remained "Prince of Wales" and even Camilla isn't a princess.

Although Alderaan was destroyed, there were a number of people who were off world (Winter for example), she is still the Princess to those people.

It'd make much more sense for her to be Queen of them, IMO,
