Lit Why did the Jedi support the Arkanian Dominion?

The Dominion was experimenting upon its citizens without the consent of those citizens. Why would the Jedi support that?

 

Jedi didn't interfere with a lot of bad situations. For example, slavery.

Actually, they DID intervene to SUPPORT the Dominion. The OP is asking why they would do that.

 

Probably greater political dividends. They don't want to piss a whole society off just for some minorities. The Jedi supported sexist Hapes.

They do intervine when they can do so practicaly.

There is no legal slavery in republic space, But they cant do much about the hutts they dont have the power base, not unless they are for a drawn out war.

Some times one must let a smaller evil prevail to fend off a greater evil.

 

Not intervening at all > intervening to support the bad guys

look at Dragon Age origins whats better support a Prograssive villian like Prince Bhalen, or Support the kind honest but socially backwards duke? Both will help you fight the Blight, but the fate of the dwarves after could differ wildly.

 

The NJO helped Hapes. That is supporting the sexist (bad) guys. There's a trade-off.

Helped Tenal Ka against often retractionist opposition? yes.

Yup - through near-slave labor. But Arkanians are really smart, so the Republic wants to stay in their good graces.

Which is a good thing. Hapes causes more problems than helpful contributions.
The NJO stories have Hapes prominent because a member of the order is from there. If this was the old order, Tenel Ka would have had to give up her family, probably.

 

I'm aware of all that. Tenel Ka probably wouldn't have been born if the prince of Hapes didn't try to marry Leia and tag along with Luke to Dathomir and met the woman he married.

The OJO is just like any other government agency. They pick and choose which cause to get behind and which evil to fight.

 

I think the Jedi have mostly championed democracy, peace, and order but there's been plenty of times they've done...questionable things.

* The Sith Genocide.
* The support of Empress Teta.
* The Jedi Lords.
* The Shiodo Shifter massacre.
* That world they accidentally destroyed whose name escapes me (the race is bald but for a bone in the middle of their heads - one was on the cover of Wanted by Cracken)
