No, but it will be, so my opinion is therefore pointless.

with I-III being released (and IV-VI hopefully) being released in 3D prior to VII, I fully expect to see VII to be released in 3D. Talking of which, any speculation on IV-VI 3D release dates? I assume that they will be brought forward now with VI being released a few months prior to VII.

Should? I'd prefer not, as 3D ruins picture quality because of double images and more weirdness, but it's going to be. Any major movie and many smaller ones have been coming out in 3D for years. The ST won't be any different.

    I don't see a reason why it wouldn't be in 3D.

I hope not. I'd get major headaches. No 3D
    At least not at first.

No, it really doesn't need to be any more over priced then a normal ticket.

I don't see the reason but we all know it will be in 3D.

Yeah, this is kinda what I think. The only problem is that sometimes in the real 3D movies they film it in such a way as to utilize the gimick -- not necessarily for the story.
I don't know though, I'm ambivelent either way I guess.

IMO the only thing that made Avatar was that it was shot to be 3D and there were some really cool scenes.

For Box office a hell yes. Artistically only if it is done as well as Avatar. It was the only film I've that was better in 3D. Most others have been poor in 3D. Funnily enough I thought that the 3D in TPM was far too subtle. With the existing films coming out in 3D I would expect all other Star Wars films in 3D.

Anyone done D Box (moving chairs). That could amazing for the battle scenes.

Either way fans should get a choice of 2D if that's what they want.

Maybe there will be a 3D version and a non-3D version. Some theatres don't have 3D goggles, right?

I think so, yeah. They show 3D movies in 2D for those not wanting the 3D experience/headache, anyway, so why not? Plus, we're all going to see the movie several times...so this gives us options in our 2nd, 3rd, 4th viewings.

I think it's a preety safe bet that it will come out in 3D, what I wonder though is, if it will be in 48fps as well. I think that depends on how the reception of The Hobbit is. I heard that 48fps does wonders to 3D.

I don't care for 3D, but there will almost certainly be a 3D release.

This. Shooting it in 3D is a waste of resources, and the director has to think more about the 3D perspective than in the shot itself and the acting.

I don't really care for the so called "3D"
It's just a silly gimmick that I hope passes soon. I'm not one of those people who run away from any innovation, but 3D is simply a cheap gimmick in my view.
When we get HD quality holograms and holodecks, great, count me in.
As things stand now, I want my good old HD 2D movies.

I agree it was too subtle. They should re-lease a much more hardcore 3D version where stuff bursts out of the screen. I suppose it has to do with the content of the film too.

Have a specially designed chair that has a speaker either side of your head, kinda link head-phones, but when a laser bolt comes past, you'll wanna dodge it! That with the 3D. *Crisis*[face_laugh]

I have no problem with the ST being 3D, unless it detracts from the story.

I'm not much of a fan of post conversion 3D, unless the film will be filmed in 3D, but I doubt it will.

Seeing how they're rereleasing the original saga in 3d, I'd say its a dead cert they'll shoot episode 7 with 3d cameras. It'll save them a costly conversion process.

Generally that's what film productions, including Disney, do nowadays. Sometimes they are done right, but usually I hate it when the post conversion 3D is blurry and sometimes it's not the film's fault, it's the theater. They should utilize an IMAX camera for this upcoming Episode VII. I think it would work well for SW.
