I will still keep some hope....

The exact quote from her spokesperson said "She has not confirmed anything..." That isn't necessarily a flat-out "NO, she will NOT do it." So I don't think I'll write her off just yet. For all we know, she let a huge secret slip, and her spokesperson was just doing some necessary damage control...[face_thinking]

Plus, after hearing Marion Cotillard fibbing to interviewers before The Dark Knight Rises was released by saying her character is NOT Talia Al Ghul, I no longer hold much stock in what actors say about their involvements in roles/plot points. I mean, they have to keep the secret, right? ;)

Her spokesperson said it was a "tounge in cheek" comment ??

More like, "she said some stuff she is obligated not to talk about and now we have to retract the statement without it looking like we are retracting a statement because we might be in trouble!"

Anyone who has been involved in the biz for 12 seconds can tell you THAT IS A FLAT OUT CONFIRMATION she is in. :)

Well, the thing is she was smart how she said it, "I thought it was common knowledge."

But the retraction seems like a confirmation to cover her butt. Because if it was just a joke then there would be NO, ZERO, reason to make a retractive statement.

Sounds like wishful thinking to me. Carrie is highly intelligent. She knows how these things work. Sure, she might not care, but acting that disrespectfully towards LFL and Disney would be out of character for her.
Believe it or not, she was just teasing.

Wishful thinking? I'd rather they NOT have any of the original trilogy cast members. No, it is thinking. Period.

She is IN. I will bet my entire fortune on it.

That's not what I'm arguing against. You seem to want to take her sarcasm at face value.

There was no sarcasm. What she said was the truth. Then her handlers scrambled to cover for her mistake since it wasn't common knowledge. Disney/LFL marketing likely called them up and told them to retract it since there is a schedule on casting announcements.

They likely asked them to clarify that she was joking, yes, but that doesn't mean she wasn't actually joking. Her reply oozed with sarcasm.

Knowing that princess is not fond of SW (allegedly), there is no doubt she was extremely sarcastic.

Really? She might have been sarcastic (I think it's just her personality) but I've never heard her say anything really negative (unlike Ford or even McGregor).

Not necessarily negative. Just not particularly fond of, but that's not my business anyway.

She did say once that Star Wars "ruined my career". Although I'm sure her tongue was firmly in her cheek when she that.

Sure, just like she told Lucas that he "ruined" her life.

How you read blatant sarcasm into the most simple quote in the history of the site is beyond me...

If all or any of them do come back, we won't find out anytime soon. That will be kept secret for as long as possible.

Yeah, but that's usually followed by a listing of "lather up with Leia and you'll feel like a princess", my ex-husband sticks pins in my doll/action figure, my daughter has a Leia PEZ with candy popping out of the neck, I have to pay George every time I look in the mirror, etc... jokes.

That comment is part of her stand-up routine. It's SOOOOOO tongue-in-cheek.

Okay, I'll be the one to say it. Mark and Harrison could easily reprise their roles, as they've gotten older, but haven't changed that much. Carrie... not so much. Is it possible she'd really come back as Leia seeing that she looks so different now?

Anthony will do. We all know that. No other actor has ever portrayed C-3PO in anything in any way. Peter may not though considering the whole Chewbacca being dead thing.

Look so different? You mean she aged?

Yes, she will do it. Of course she will do it.
