The animation style is completely different.

 

And the body proportions are all wrong, even taking into account the usual exaggeration of animation.

He was always fighting with the brothers, it just didn't seem like good team chemistry, so I didn't see it as unanswered. But they could fit him into season 2.

I read the Avatar comics.. Kinda of short, but good! Now THIS is the Avatar I enjoy, the real Avatar. I feel like these events should've been another season.. But the ending = evil
