So I just watched a video of teens reacting to Amanda Todd's suicide due to constant online and real life bullying. Honestly I didn't know about it till now. It's very sad that this happened, and sadder that it just wouldn't stop and people are still making fun of it.

What could be done stop things like this? Is there a way to stop it? I mean this is just more than physical, but online where millions can get involved and contribute to it.

    I honestly have no clue.

I'm not sure if there is anything I could give besides what I already do: stand firm.

I'm forever grateful that things like Twitter, My Space, and Facebook didn't exist when I was a teen and the target of bullying. I can't imagine what I would have done back then if Online bullying had been added onto it.

Honestly, I don't know what can be done about it either. There definitely needs to be more vigilance about it for starters.

In terms of online bullying, one thing that could be done is start a massive online campaign to declare the Hobbit the worst movie ever made. When I think of all the people looking forward to this movie, anything that can be done to undermine their complacent attempts to enjoy it needs to be done, nay, must be done.

If I am looking forward to The Hobbit does that mean you are going to bully me? [face_worried]

You can't stop the bullies directly, so the only reasonable thing you can do is stop letting the bullying bother you. Eventually they will give up when they see their tactics aren't working. The same thing applies to real-life bullies: ignore them and they will go away.

wait ender is this the argument you've been making in the israel thread re: palestinian violence towards israel? that they should ignore the racist settler state that has enveloped them and maybe it'll get bored and go away?

We could create a moderator/user system, and make a terms of service, and punish users or ban them according to how ferociously they bully.

Cash incentives for bulling in real life would motivate me to spend less time on the internets.

To be serious, though, the easiest way to avoid online bullying is simply not to visit those sites where bullying is the most common - Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, etc. It's not like one can't live without them.

I joined facebook group that I later found did nothing but troll other groups. Like some kind of pagan 4chan. I feel so let down. Witches can be pretty wicked, BTW

I have a novice idea...how about parents be more than just sperm-n-egg donors, be active in their kids lives and actually teach their kids not to be demented little jackoffs to each other?

Consequences will never be the same. :(
