When was the second video of Lucas and Kennedy posted at SW.com? It seems as if the third video is somewhat overdue (sorry if this isn't the right thread, but I really didn't know where to post this specific question).

 

Maby they are waiting so they can confirm the director of EP7 in the new video

They could be holding off revealing more more info until the director is confirmed.

 

This video says that a part 4 is coming on November 26th. So I don't think we're getting an official director announcement until December (unless the rumor mill forces their hand again).

Edit: actually, the page says 5 part interview, so the director announcement could be after December 3rd.

Kasdan and Kinberg on Board to Write Star Wars Sequels

Now that Michael Arndt has been announced as the screenwriter for Star Wars: Episode VII, Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm are already bringing talent on board for the next two films as well.

Deadline reports that Disney and Lucasfilm have approached Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg to start work on the subsequent installments that were mapped out by George Lucas.

Kasdan worked on the scripts for two of the original "Star Wars" films, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, and wrote Raiders of the Lost Ark. Kinberg's credits include X-Men: First Class, Sherlock Holmes and the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Okay, now the official site says Part 4 of the interview isn't until December 4th. So i suppose there is something else planned for next week.

 

It looks like every episode will have a different director, too. I wonder if that Colin fellow will direct VIII or IX rather than VII?

 

Why don't they get David Lynch to do it? Or has he become too nutty?

 

You mean "hasnt he always been?".

Seriously, I think Lynch is much too much his own persona to be a gun-for-hire. There is The Straight Story but that was a guy on his lawnmower.

 

Let's see. I've seen Dune which was Star Wars on acid, and Blue Velvet where I learned Pabst Blue Ribbon is the best beer ever. Wasn't Lynch originally going to direct Return of the Jedi?

 

No. Lucas did ask him if he wanted the job, but judging by Lynch's reaction to the whole thing(in his own words) I really can't see him doing it. He puts his personal stamp on everything he touches....except for the movie about the guy and his lawnmower.

 

If Episode IX is all about Luke on his lawnmower, he's a shoo-in.

 

I think Lynch would do it if it was Luke turning into his lawnmower. OMG, he's more machine now than man, twisted and evil. Ready to mow down lawns across the galaxy.

 

Luke, Vader, and Palpatine were the same person this whole time! It all makes (no) sense now!

 

Actually, Lucas wanted Kershner to return as director - his first choice. But he was barred from doing it as he was a part of the director's guild whom Lucas had just dissasociated from at the time of Empire.

 

Ah I see. Makes sense now. Thanks. I had known that Lucas left the Director's Guild right after Empire was released since the studio was trying to interfere with the production of the film.

 

I have seen some fantastic ideas from a member here call JoeyArnold all my hopes and prayers are that he writes and directs.

Is John Landis doing anything? Perhaps he could direct? The film could be about students going to Luke's Jedi Collage and throwing wild parties, and sneaking twilek dancers into the dorm rooms.
