The difference is I like running. Also makes me feel a little less guilty about all the food I just ate.

Isn't your daughter a bit young to have a boyfriend that calls you mum?

She's not old enough to marry. Maybe he just has it bad for Addie's daughter.

Addie, maybe its a bit different than that. Maybe he doesn't really have a maternal figure in his life (like his mother is dead, out of his life, or not a good example). In this case that might actually be a good thing - it means he looks up to you and/or respects you. I mean, at least he had the decency to contact you after you and your daughter got into a quarrel.

I dunno, I'm kinda young and haven't gone through this sort of thing, so I'm just making an optimistic and analytical evaluation of the situation.

By the way, even though its only 3pm here, I already had thanksgiving dinner (lunch for me). I wanted to make today be when I had my first taste of alcohol, but I kinda chickened out and didn't ask. FYI, I'm 24, and never had any because it wouldn't have mixed well with the meds I was taking up until half a year ago when I stopped taking any medication cold turkey (ironically I'm better off without them, they sorta acted like a negative placebo for the most part).

Kev we had dinner at 3 so we could watch the Skins game. I rarely drink, but I'm nursing a Yingling currently. Go for a dark beer, and take it easy ;)

You can all relax, no he isn't proposing, he's got her a friendship ring for Christmas through his mothers work (she works for a jeweler) and his mother is a lovely lady, who I get on very well with. He wanted to work wtih her today to 'earn the $$' to pay off the ring, but he couldn't tell her that, so he told me. I talked ot her this morning, calmed her down and explained that plans change and she needs to be more flexible. ;) His intentions are good, he was talking in the car the other night about how maybe they should start collecting for when they move in together in a few years time. Yeah, a bit ambitious, but sounded legit to me and they laughed about people giving them white tablecloths and sheets! I think even though they are young (16), they are not messing about, they are reasonably serious and I either accept that or fight it and lose her. So I suspect the 'Hi Mum' line I got from him is similar to what I get from JM 77 and Zarkin.....it's a term of affection. ;)

I figured. But does 'mum' = the American 'mom'?

Mum is Mom, just as a gesture is a kind wording. Although if mine catches me using it she corrects me that she is Mom, not Mum. As to her Mum is a request to be silent, a type of flower, or a communical disease nickname.

    *Communicable. :-B :p

Mums = chrysanthemum. Chyrso = gold, and anthemon = flower.

I always give her pink roses. She likes em better ;)

If I called her Rose though, I probably would hurt her feelings as she would connect it to teh Golden Girls instead of the flowers :p
