At last, a place to post Moonblood! Because releasing more than 100 casettes of a given album? Not kvlt enough.

Tough call, the last post in that sucker was 2 years ago, and I'm the sort of guy that likes clean breaks. It's a new board on new software. The future. :p

lol ender I don't think you know what you're talking about with metal. Someone who makes a thread for metal and immediately starts talking about what *isn't* metal and then goes into metallica/megadeth....nawwww.

Thanks for the terrible modding decision Marcus. :)

EDIT: Seriously, can anyone explain to me the brilliance in moving discussion to a thread that was driven by a member who doesn't appear to post here anymore; that has 179 pages of discussion nobody's going to re-read, and which hasn't been updated in 2 years?

It's like Senny never stepped down.

They probably would have taken your thread more seriously, had you not talked about loltalica amd megadork.

Pretty sure you could say the same thing about a lot of threads. I'm sorry you didn't get your own thread but like I said I asked to have this unlocked before you made yours.

I'm super keen to hear Marcus' reasoning. Bring out the crayons and butcher's paper.

EDIT: BF2K1, even still, it was a bafflingly stupid decision. Hence the Senny comparison.

Well since you've already taken this up in PM I'm sure I don't to tell you this isn't the appropriate forum to be a) discussing singular decisions and b) calling them baffingly stupid and implying I'm a barely-literate idiot. :)

There is no longer any technical limitation on the length of threads and this thread was already asked to be upped, rendering your 'inactive for 2 years' point moot.

To quote Ender_Sai 's "To much Cradle love" from the other metal thread - that was years ago, before they started to suck. ;)

Anyhow, not that there is an active place to discuss metal, what are people here mostly into? I mean, what is your favourite subgenre?

    No, good work Marcus. =D=

Amon - if I had to pick, it would be post-metal. ISIS' Panopticon has been a favoured album since maybe 2006.

I actually haven't listened to much of it. Mostly Downfall of Gaia and Agalloch. Thought I'm not sure if they could count as the real post.... more like avant garde metal (also how Encyclopaedia Metallum defines them). Also the Finnish underground Mandragora (bordering doom).

I mostly got out of metal and into jazz a couple of years ago. Now that I'm weaseling my way back into the stuff, it's looking like a lot of black and grind. So... yeah, black and grind.

ISIS blew me away first time I heard them. It's like a lot of metal - there's not one track you can listen to and go "yep, in" - you need to go through the journey of the album. I would recommend getting Panopticon, which is as close to a perfect album as I can imagine. The standout track is "In Fiction", which only has clear vocals (no growls) but still manages to soar to epic metal heights.

Other good post-metal bands worth checking out are

    Rosetta

    and Cult of Luna.

I'm also enjoying BTBAM and Baroness. Yellow & Green is much less metal than previous records but still an immersive listen. Plus, I got the digipack and John Baizley's artwork is simply out of this world.

Wow, bad modding contributes to Trop's resurrection? Shock.

I'm all prog lately. Enslaved's new album and To-Mera's new album are pure sex, and Diablo Swing Orchestra's new one is the best album I've heard in a good two years.

Still mainly listening to power metal I guess but I've been listening to a lot of different stuff on Songza which has a few great metal playlists, even if they do miscategorize some of the bands. :p
