Um, how exactly is it awkward for a Jedi to wear a Jedi robe?

Sometimes being naturally horny leaves a girl with no choice but to wear skimpy clothes.

Anakin wears dark brown, not black, actually.

And I don't see why Jedi raised from infancy/toddlerhood feel a need to observe cultural traditions like skimpy clothing. Their family/culture is the Jedi. Personally, I see no in-universe reason.

Remember, one of the functions of the simple clothing of Jedi is inconspicuousness. The idea is that people aren't really supposed to know you're a Jedi on sight. The best way to accomplish that is to dress in clothes that are typical for your species/planet/culture. So human Jedi should wear typical human clothes, Mirialan Jedi should wear typical Mirialan clothes, Togruta Jedi should wear typical Togruta clothes, and so on.

Hah, so then it would of been better if Ahsoka didn't wear the robe on Onderon? IU. I dunno. In "Revival" the Snaggletooth guy made it seem like most folks have never seen a Jedi and may not know what one looks like. Its usually the lightsaber that seems to give it away.

Yeah, exactly. The reason that most people may not know what a Jedi look like is that Jedi don't have a distinctive look to them. The best look for a Togruta or Twi'lek Jedi to have is to look like any ordinary Togruta or Twi'lek.

So if "any normal Twi'lek" would dress in a halter top and skin-tight leather pants...

She's also probably twenty years older than Ahsoka. In virtually any culture, there's a difference between the way teenagers typically dress and the way mature adults typically dress.

When was the last time you saw a 35-year-old woman dressed like this?

    You get the idea.

    When? Yesterday.

Pretty much all the female Togrutas in the Slaves arc were dressed far more skimpily than Shaak Ti was, and most of them looked like they were middle-aged, quite honestly.

Well. Suu looks kinda old. She's pretty tame in "The Deserter" dress wise but then there is the concept art. Imagine what she is wearing in episode and take away the jeans.

If it's written by Filoni, then we'll know who the Jedi is.

Emperor Palpatine: "Commander Cody, the time has come, execute Rule 34."

Commander Cody: "Uuuhhh... Sir? Can't I leave you to using that keyboard yourself?"

Emperor Palpatine: "You may bring napkins and Midichlorian Lotion before me."

And now you know what Palpatine did in his throne while turned away from the audience in ROTJ, getting all upset at Vader for barging in on his private time.

    Amazing GIF!

In fact, it made me LOL so much, I gave that scene above a truly special edition treatment.

The point is that there really is no such thing as a "Jedi robe". Jedi simply wear whatever would make them inconspicuous, and for human Jedi, the robes we're used to are what they favor. But remember, those are common clothes for humans - Uncle Owen wore robes like that, too. If Jedi existed in our world, they'd wear jeans and hoodies because those clothes are common and universal enough that they would reliably make them not stand out. That wouldn't make jeans and hoodies "Jedi clothes".

But yes, there could be cultural, religious, and gender differences, too - you could easily imagine a Muslim Jedi in our world wearing a hijab, a Sikh wearing a turban, a West African wearing a dashiki, and so on. But all that is stuff that would be typical and expected, and wouldn't by itself cause anyone to ask too many questions.
