He did, he seems to be the 2nd command after Anakin in the 501st as seen in the Umbara arc. That's of course without Ahsoka around, he's third when she is around.

The interesting thing to note is that Umbara introduced Appo as a Sergent in the 501st, confirming that he isn't retconned out of existence and he might play a key role later on before ROTS if he does become a Commander, which he should by ROTS.

He internalises more than other characters doesn't he? I mean, he has been through quite a bit but it hasn't hindered him or stopped him from being a good soldier. If you were writing his story where would you take him from this point?

Anakin introduced Rex to Krell as his 2nd in command in Umbara. Appo's introduction in the series may certainly signal the beginning of the end for the Captain.

He does. Its possible I relate to Rex on some strange level. Now I've never been a soldier although almost every one else in my family has served in the military, heh. But Rex started off seeming like the kinda person who never had to think to much about anything other than what he's good at until he's challenged to change which is kinda like me. He also seems like the kinda person who either underthinks or overthinks stuff and tends get understimated then comes from the bottom and knocks it out. Thats like me. I'm not really all that deep of a thinker. I do tend to get outthinked more often and then put my head in my hands and beat myself up wondering why I'm not up to par with everybody else but that's more where I start relating to Domino Squad. I can be hard on myself about that. Happens to Rex to however.

One of the really cool things about Rex is not only is he relatable at the end of the day he's a hero at the moment. As a hero for the kiddies to look up to and want to be like you could say he is a more obtainable asperation as a pretty ordinary man, a human soldier even though he is a clone. When compared to Jedi like Anakin and Obi-wan. I dunno if that makes sense.

There are still a number of things I'd like to see happen to Rex. Here are a few.
-Meet Lux and experience some drama with clones having killed the boy's father.
-Have a falling out with Fives who almost seems to be like a son.
-Be a major character in an arc where the republic is actually portrayed as evil and commits some kind of horror.
-Experience one of Anakin tantrums first hand.

As for what should happen to him. I think it would just be neat to experience order 66 thought his eyes. I think with all Rex has been through he might be the kinda guy who ends up falling on his own sword. I do sometime imagine in my head the guy in this picture is Rex.

However I'd be lying if I didn't think it would be also cool to see Rex try and get between Wolffe trying to shoot Ahsoka.

I love my Rex alarm clock. I got him on sale. I have a tendency to say alot of bad words to him when he wakes me up in the morning though. Granted my version of morning is noon anyways.

It isn't a bad thing to be like Rex; I notice that even when challenged or outside his confort zone he doesn't lose his humanity and remains a decent person. The world needs more people like that.

I had forgotten about Lux's father. That would be an interesting confrontation, especially if you throw little 'Soka in there too. As fot Fives, I thought it was cool that the he disagreed with Rex on Umbara but did as he was asked anyway. There is definitely room for more interaction between the two there.

Order 66 will be a difficult thing to get right I think. There is a risk that by having Rex disobey it undermines the order itself by raisng the question that if one clone can disobey, why didn't more? Afterall, Rex isn't the only one we've seen who gets on really well with his jedi. I feel that for it to work, Rex needs to become even more unique among clones. Maybe your evil republic idea would work if Rex feels like the only clone who can see what the republic had done was wrong, finding himself on the other side of the fence to his brothers.

Dark-Fox, I think Rex is already pretty unique for a clone. He's easily the smartest one we've met so far and he's got a ton of heart. Cut Lawquane comes close but is more of a philosophical thinker while Rex is practical. Now whether Rex could do it remains to be seen. He couldn't manage to pull the trigger on Krell. Could be a block there or it could be his conscience. It was only Dogma the most insane of the clones present who could shoot him in the back.

I think in order to portray Rex disobeying Order 66, the correct way to do it would be to make sure he is not directly in charge. Its another reason I point to Wolffe. Also Fives probably is that independent and is capable to not following orders when he sees fit. It just so happens he does what he does still out of loyalty for the republic. I could see him flat out questioning the order and provoking Rex just as Fives did in Umbara. Fun stuff.

A meeting with Lux would be awesome. Rex has been given the tools to appreciate what it means to take away a kid's father thanks to "The Deserter". It would be a way for Rex so see the pain on both sides and get further fed up with the war and his place in it. I think it would be particularly awesome if Rex were to have participated in assassinating Mr. Bonteri. That'dbe some great drama. Give me feels TCW.

Rex is one of the better characters to use as a role model in the show. Rex has all the traits I look for in a hero, to be honest. Granted there is still something; dark, mysterious, and absolutely dangerous in him. Check out when he shot the poor guy in "The General" and his "I'm no Jedi" line.

Rex is being manipulated. Remember when Rex was guarding him randomly? And when he was asked to walk him home?

Palpatine is keeping the captain of his future apprentice under close watch, I think. When the time comes, and Palpatine gives the order, I think Rex will follow it unless it is Ahsoka he is set on killing. Then there will be that hesitation, but he actually might do it with huge regret afterward.

I felt like Rex was being used to watch Palpatine when he was going to get kidnapped for a few different reason. Its the closest thing we have to a callback to Umbara. Recall how suspicious Mace was toward him when he said "Can or won't?". It should be obvious that Palpy is one uping him so why isn't it? Because Palpy is using the reputation Rex got in Umbara to hide it and because at this point everybody knows Rex is independent and will make his own decisions. That's why he's perfect for running interference for Anakin. Besides that who would you rather have as a bodygaurd? Captain Rex or Commander Fox? I guess if you want to get kidnapped you'd choose the later, but...

Really I'm not so sure there is room for Rex to go with Vader now that Appo has shown up. Its probably best that like Ahsoka, Rex be somewhere else either dead or off doing his own thing. If there is overlap I really hope we're off following some other adventure with these other characters and not reliving ROTS in TCW's animation.

I think Rex had no idea what he was doing but that the Chancellor's orders are from the highest degree.

It is like a Captain to be asked to escort a President almost. President overrules all other orders.

Think about it from Palpatine's perspective. He doesn't want the Jedi feeling like he's one upping them just yet. Rex was perfect for the role because he put a shadow of doubt in Mace's mind about if Rex "Couldn't or Wouldn't" tell him where Anakin went. Rex would be qutie capable to running interference for Anakin.

    That would be interesting.

"This is so much better than C-SPAN!"

Obviously, in the professional sphere, clones (like other military personnel) are meant to act in the interests of the state rather than political factions within it. However, politics and warfighting are fundamentally intertwined. We've seen anti-droid sentiment from clones and Boil certainly uses a pejorative to describe the Twi'lek species. We've seen the Senate deliberate over funding the development of new clone troopers. Natural political homes for clones with an interest would be (obviously) militarism and a hypothetical clone rights movement. However, a rogue clone (like Cut; most likely not someone actively servng) might find pacifism and anti-militarism alluring.

Having individual clone officers answer to or give evidence under oath to the Senate might be interesting. Since this is the Rex thread, that might be something worth considering with him.

If they can follow sports then I don't see why not. So long as TCW can manage to make a clone following politics interesting and relative to the clone subplots. Clones are probably going to want to take an interest in what people of the republic think of them atleast sooner or later with stuff like below happening.

What? Really, what is their n word?

I would love to see some clones go rogue and set themselves up as a mercenary unit.

I believe Boil refers to the Twi'leks as "tail-heads".

I liked it when the "retired clone trooper" from the Battlefront narration claimed that the defense of Kashyyyk was "all for a bunch of walking carpets".
