MOD Garth "Brett Favre" Maul's Retirement Thread

Long-time users will know this was my 3rd round as a moderator, prior to that was in the old 3NS and PT forum days. I've threatened to retire a half-dozen times in the last couple of years to no avail. Thus the Brett Favre comment.

This has been coming for quite a while, and in some ways, Gry and BC leaving just delayed it.

I've had a blast with this forum, back to its SSSW days and most of the posting was on Genndy's CW series and speculation about the "upcoming" LAS.

There are some very funny, thoughtful and talented members of LACWAC. Some are gone, and some remain. You have made the discussion of TCW, in particular, at times (usually?) more entertaining than the actual show itself.

But the show, at this point, just isn't as interesting to me. The upcoming Episode VII actually has my interest more. I'm such an old man, used to the old boards, and though the new style has some definite advantages, it doesn't seem the same to me.

I also, simply, don't have the time that I used to, and if there are days when I don't even login to the forum, it probably means I shouldn't be the manager anymore. My only regret is that I wasn't able to be around much this year. For all the drama of the temp boards and everything else that happened, I feel that I could have lessened the damage if I was more involved.

So, I'll probably still be around LACWAC, and probably the E7 forum once we actually start getting some real info, but it's time for me to move on. I'll be officially finished as a mod once TCW starts up again after the Christmas break.

Seerow and Sx3 have the forum well in hand. Long-time fellow traveler PrincessKenobi will be stepping in to act as the 3rd moderator.

Well Garth, its really sad to see this thread for real. I've had a great time serving with you. When I first got promoted I was mostly excited to work with you and Barriss. Your a great friend and a funny guy. I've learned alot from you and I hope to god I can carry on your legacy on here and make you proud in the future. Happy retirement and best wishes. Hope to see you back here talking about the episodes! -fist bumps!-

Well, since I'll probably be banned by then, I probably won't see you again. But that's okay. I understand if I make you uncomfortable. You're still a nice mod, and I still like you.

But I must warn you of something - you know how people say "You're okay in my book" or "In my book, that's no good"?

Well, I actually have a book. And everybody I ever meet goes in this book. And, now I've met you, and you're going in the book!

I'm afraid I must file you under...."one of the good ones".

I'm not sure where I was going with that.


PS: While PK is cool, I hereby formally request that all mods be replaced by robocops.

You probably could have done something other than making locked announcements about how disappointed you were with the forum. Maybe then some stuff might not have happened. I liked you back when you were actively involved and interacted with the community, rather than the increasing distance you exhibited during these last few months.

Give me 2009 Garth again.

Thanks. Pretty sure I mentioned that above. I gotta say my tolerance for dealing with Internet drama just isn't there anymore; no offence to anyone here, but when you're dealing with families involved in divorce and child welfare, restraining orders, etc., the problems of the JC just don't grab my attention.

Certainly a surprise given your positive comments and reviews about the latest arc in TCW, but everything changes. (Or is it the more things change, the more they stay the same?) Good luck on whatever your doing next. And remember, while you're speculating away in the Ep. VII forums for the next 3 years, there'll be actual watching, reviewing, and discussing of TCW episodes in this forum. Drop by any time!
