KOTOR is excellent and all, yes. But where the hell is the X-Wing series? Kids these days...

This list is terrible. Utterly terrible. How can you have the Battlefront games on a list of best SW games? Either this is massive irony or ...

    Where is Rebellion?

Where's the X-Wing Saga (I prefer XWA, Jaypes prefers X-Wing, Aragorn TIE fighter but if you bundle them as a saga EVERYBODY HAPPY)?

Why is Jedi Outcast on there? It was rubbish next to Jedi Knight.

    Terrible list.

    Everybody calm down.

Anyway I liked Jedi Outcast more than Jedi Knight, come at me Ender, another reason to hate. :p

The answer is TIE Fighter anyway.

How can you include the original Dark Forces but not include X-Wing Alliance, there's like...4 years between them.

I prefer Jedi Outcast to Jedi Knight in terms of gameplay, but the FMV of JK rules supreme. You know... I probably shouldn't confess this but I thought for a while that Kyle was played by Michael Biehn, I don't know why, I was young [face_blush].

There was something infinitely cool about hunting down Imperial traitors, working with Thrawn, flying with Vader and rescuing a kidnapped Emperor that you can't get anywhere else but with Tie-fighter. You hipster Rebels need ELS, we'll take you down with good ol' EL.

TIE Fighter is pretty amazing. I am also disappointed by the lack of love for Force Commander. Yes, it was like driving a 40 year old bus on ice, but once you found the sweet spot - god it was good.

I never played Force Commander but it is the only Star Wars game for which I have a cue from the soundtrack to my music library.

Galactic Battlegrounds - also missing from this woeful list - was great fun but less tactical and more zergy than FoCom. It should be on Steam; worth checking out just to see what could have been.

It's also the last game, or maybe XWA was, that had NO prequel influence at all. That's right, those godawful suckfests had no bearing on the gameplay or narrative. Cue a choir of angels for that moment.

I don't think Shadows of the Empire had prequel influence, or perhaps it did and I didn't notice it? Neither did the first Rogue Squadron, with the exception of being able to unlock the Naboo N-1 Starfighter through a cheat code. However, that had nothing to do with its narrative. You could also unlock the game's sound designers' 1969 convertible Buick Electra as a flyable spacecraft. :p

Well, yes, but it was decidedly an arcade game. The developers' inspiration for the games were the 80s Star Wars arcade vector graphics rail shooters, which are even unlockable in emulated form as a tribute and treat in the third game. Simulation was never their intention.

Aye, I know that's the style they were aiming for but I was spoilt by the complexities of the others I guess. This is an opinion poll after all ;)

SOTE was one of the first games on N64, so it pre-dates Rogue Squadron, the release of TPM and indeed FoCom. It think XWA came out just after TPM but it's development was pre-TPM.

I see. I was under the impression that FC was older than that. I also thought XWA was older than that. My mistake.
