Hi all, I have finished Revan by Drew Karpyshyn and LOVED IT!!! But I was wondering, do I need to read Deceived, Red Harvest and Fatal Alliance in orded to understand the things happening in Annihilation (also by Karpyshyn)? Are these three books also good as well? I have been following the swtor.com timeline so I know whats been happening. Thanks a lot for the insight and help!
I've only read Revan and Deceived. I believe that the Old Republic novels are pretty much standalone, and not tightly interlinked.
Yeah, the TOR novels are independent, with Deceived, Fatal Alliance and Red Harvest all focusing on their own characters rather than toward any big linked-story-arc.
Deceived is novelization and extension of the first trailer, with Malgus as one of main characters. Pretty solid rad by Kemp. Fatal Alliance is mostly a standalone story set in SWTOR period, with some of its characters, ships and locations. I actually liked it even more than Deceived because of an intriguing mystery. Red Harvest is NOT an SWTOR novel. It is a bloody, gory "horror" novel and a prequel to Death Troopers. Sacking of Coruscant is mentioned ONCE and is the only link this book has to the game. Annihilation is mostly a standalone, but Theron and his Twi'lek companion were introduced in TOR: The Lost Suns 5-issue comic arc. You might want to check it for the backstory, though novel's plot is independent from it.
No comics about Revan, but he cameos in Volumes 1, 2, 3, and 8 of the Knights of the Old Republic comic.
I would recommend NOT to read Red Harvest. The rest are all pretty good, but Fatal Alliance can be a bit tedious.
The question is whether these people have played KotOR, because that seems to make people bash Revan.
Yeah. She also got to spend time in the lounge watching movies! Silly Barriss_Coffee thinking Bastila didn't get choices!
Definitely read all of them. You by no means have to read the others to understand Annihilation but it would make sense for you to read them all chronologically.
