Speculation Which species do you want the new villain to be ?

I see what you're saying but Yoda moved pretty slowly, and I think there was a Jedi in Episode 1 that didn't even have legs. Their long neck would be a huge target though.

 

Yarrel Poof from TPM (the grey guy) had an even longer one.

 

I doubt they would use a Mandalorian due to the involvement of the Fetts in the PT/OT. Star Wars never seems to stick with one species or group of people for too long.

 

I do want something we've seen before, at least species wise. I want the new species to be the hero, so he/she gets more screentime.

There won't be any Sith - Anakin and Luke destroyed the last one.

There will be a Dark Side threat but it will not be Sith.

From the EU, I like the Vong and the Ssi-Ruk (that would be an awesome space battle with pilots souls getting ripped straight out of their bodies - hope it is done in a spin off sometime).

If the ST has a new evil army of villains I hope is is a few new species (and that they continue in the Star Wars tradition of members of alien races not being all the same - i.e. not all warriors, scientists, treasure craving).

Ripped nine foot tall soldiers, others incredible agile - a varied batch - each one a match for a trained Jedi, meaning Luke warriors (let alone the average Republic/Alliance soldiers) are in real peril with every battle.

And the have cortosis armour and weapons.

People forget the model Tarkin gave. His action scenes were all of none, but he was every bit the villain Vader was; possibly even more loathsome given his on-display ego and pointless cruelty.

True. Not everyone needs to be twirling around a fancy lightsabre to be evil.

 

Might be interesting to list a few archetypes and see what's most appealing.

The military genius
The crimelord
The scheming politician

And so forth.

 

Scheming politicians has been done with Palpatine, so has a crime lord (Jabba). I'm sure a crimelord will so up again in the ST at some point.

The military genius hasn't been done on screen yet.

 

Tarkin was close- but not all that smart overall- way too overconfident.

His "I'm taking an awful risk Vader. This had better work." remark was a bit wiser however.

 

Yes, he was good commander and clever mover, but not a genius.

 

Vader filled military commander in TESB.

I'd honestly go with a nihilist at this point-maybe even have them "leading" the remains of the Empire, but only to ensure the galaxy remains forever at war.

 

As someone mentioned earlier, a Sith pureblood would be pretty neat.

What ever Plo Koon's species is (I can't remember) would love to see more of it.

 

A wealthy Muun banker might be interesting... But Darth Plagueis was already a wealthy Muun banker in his day-to-day life, so they probably won't go with that.

 

I think it would make sense for the villain to be a member of the most destructive/dangerous species known to exist........Man.
