This is true, however not canon. It would explain how Yoda was the only one to hear Qui Gon... and why he was the only one who knew what the Shaman of the Whills was... For all we know SotW could be Yoda's Nephew or Brother

I once thought this too, but someone on here posted that it wasn't the case. Personally I wouldn't mind hearing about the Whills but I don't want to see them; leave them mysterious.

It was ballsy for George to reference the Whills at the end of 3 then just walk away, leaving everyone going wait what?

I get so caught up in this sometimes. I want to know more about something, but sometimes that's the appeal. I don't want to see a Yoda origin story for this very reason, and perhaps the Whills are better left there as well.

Very much so. Sometimes I feel like George is just throwing a bone to the EU writers giving them a place to go, other times I think he has this huge plan for what's ahead.

So in other words, Bruce Whills should probably have a part in Ep. VII somewhere.

It would have been more ballsy if it weren't a deleted scene [face_sigh]

I don't despise the EU at all, I just find it hilarious. Almost as hilarious as your post, reason for my existence is to despise the EU? Eh, I'm pretty sure that wasn't in my parents thoughts as I was conceived.

By casual movie goers, are you referring to those with a desire to see a good movie?

I think there are plenty of movies that delve into "supernatural" concepts that have been very well made. The question really is would someone who identifies with Star Wars only at a cinematic level be turned off by the established "rules" of the SW universe being stretched. It's possible that if it's well made and good connections are made that the film could still be very high quality.

I remember that theory as well. Do you remember what the reasons were that Yoda wasn't a Whill?

Why change the nature of the films, to a nature that no one relates to in the Star Wars movies. If you want to watch a mainly supernatural movie, there are more than enough for you to go and watch!

"The Force" is pretty supernatural in itself.

I don't remember this had to been 10 years ago. I'm sure someone was just speculating, but the speculation really made sense.

    I just wookiee'd it:
    http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Ancient_Order_of_the_Whills
And apparently, George Lucas himself has "firmly denied" that Yoda is a Whill (though no source is listed).

And again, it most certainly is rational!;)

It is that, does it need any more supernatural aspects? Eh no!

I remember this argument, and love it! Ready?
How do you know Anakin didn't disappear? All you see is his suit! I mean, he's mostly machine now anyway, so it would probably look the same without him in it.

So based on what I read on there just now, my thoughts were correct. The Whills were super-natural being watching the events as the unfolded or causing the events to happen. So the Whills are puppet masters and story tellers in Lucas' original vision.

Yeah, I agree... so, the Mortis people could indeed be Whills. We'll see.

But if it happens, I'm ready to post CALLED IT!!! on that one. :D

Is the book/website a Lucasfilm sanctioned publication? If so, it'll be interesting to see whether certain topics/areas/chapters that may be relevant to the Episode VII story will mysteriously disappear.

I like the idea of introducing Mortis as being somehow related to the Whills - i.e. Perhaps the father, son and daughter were Whills, for instance.
