I was planning on starting with East Coast swing and seeing if I gel with it. I went to a wedding last year and pretty much everyone there could swing dance but me. There was something very upsetting about the idea that white people were judging my dancing skills. I mean. Seriously.

you mean you never watched rogue's vlogs? they're pretty amazing.
    [/quote]

lol. No. Somehow I missed that amazing boat. I want to see the vlog entry where he's 30 and he records his reactions to watching his vlog entries from this time period. That should prove very entertaining.

Since people always ask: I was in Canada; it was October; it was cold; I was at one of the urban beaches in Toronto. So, yes, I'm wearing a trenchcoat on the beach. So would you have been if you'd been there that day. :p

I have no idea what I pictured you like for these many years, but for some reason that was not it. Have you posted pics before and I just did not notice?

Long ago, it seems that I may have posted one pic. Back when I was in college I think, which was years back.

No, Toronto, paradise that it is, apparently has to chain beach chairs to their beaches to keep them from being stolen.

Nah... there's a chair in the background that is chained to a pole.

Nice picture... I also had absolutely no idea what you looked like. It's always nice to put a face to the posts.

I think the chains are more for keeping the chairs in place in case of rough wind/surf than to keep them from being stolen. Chairs are kind of a pain to steal and there are much easier places (outdoor restaurants) to steal them from.

You think? I think it would be much easier to steal a chair from a beach, especially a somewhat deserted beach during off season and cold weather, than it would be to steal one from a restaurant. I don't make a habit of stealing chairs, though, so I don't know. :p

Beach chairs a big and clunky. :p

But seriously, most beaches do use chains to tie down stuff so when the wind/surf comes, they're more or less secured. I'm sure the anti-theft properties help.

Edit: Oh. And I may or may not have been involved in the removal of outdoor restaurant chairs in my wayward youth...

...but if I were, I'd report that it's surprisingly simple stuff.

Isn't it terribly unsightly to have a bunch of metal rods jutting up out of the Earth just to keep people from stealing the chairs? That would seem to ruin the beauty of any beach to me, and shatter even the thinnest veneer of natural feeling.

Nice photo. Reminds me a little of Curt Smith from Tears for Fears, but the trenchcoat could be the contributing factor.

Don't the chairs ruin the natural aesthetic too?
