PT Most Memorable Lines of the PT

Heartbreaking It also explains the prophecy, so points to Lucas for including those lines.

I wonder if Obi-Wan knows they're actually married and not just having an affair.

 

Obi-Wan was a pretty sharp guy. I am pretty sure that he was not sorry about them being together but he was sorry about the situation which was pretty bad. He knew exactly where to look when trying to find Anakin.

Obi-Wan: You will be a Jedi. I promise.
Obi-Wan: Send me to kill the Emperor I can not do it. He is like my brother. (Pained expression on his face.)
Padme: Is he in danger from the Sith?
Obi-Wan: From himself. He has become a very grave threat. (Again pained expression on his face.)
Obi-Wan: He killed... Younglings. (Pained expression on his face)
Obi-Wan: I have failed you Anakin. I have failed you."

^ erm "You underestimate my power" is considered a bad line along the lines of "Messa called Jar-Jar Binks". Huh? What did I miss?

 

What's so bad about it? It shows how arrogant he's become and generally brings to mind all other power-related lines. I suppose one might have an issue with the delivery, but the line itself is fine.

 

I actually love the way he delivers "you underestimate my power" because he is, quite intentionally, trying to sound like "classic" Darth Vader without doing a flat-out James Earl Jones impression. Works well. His vocals in that final fight actually become more robotic and flat as it goes on.

 

I agree, I don't find it distracting.

Until "I hate you!"

 

Keeping the truth from Obi-Wan. Sorry I should have been more specific. My bad.

 

It was hard keeping the truth while being so obviously pregnant I mean, who else could have been the father?

 

Obviously pregnant is right . But it somehow took Jedi senses to discover it.

Not like 19 layers of clothing she wore or the belly ..

 

Obi-Wan most likely knew about everything that was going on. He tried to keep his distance when he knew Padme was near with Anakin. This is one of my biggest issues with Obi-Wan and his training of Anakin. He often looked the other way about some things. At the end of Attack of the Clones Mace ask Obi-Wan.....

"Where is your Padawan?"
"Escorting the Senator to Naboo."

Obi-Wan knew what was going on. How could he or Yoda not see what was going on? They both looked the other way. After Dooku ran off Padme see's Obi-Wan laid out there on the ground and ignores him and runs straight for Anakin. Some of GL's writing amazes me at times. How could they not know?

 

The Jedi don't forbid relationships as long as they don't interfere with the duty. They probably thought it's just hormones and he'd get it out of the system and it's not as if he'd have many chances to see her while being away fighting in the war. Perhaps, being traditionally raised Jedi, they underestimated the power of emotions over Anakin.

 

As can be seen in my post there are quotes there as well. The thread was not taken off topic. It is funny how everything else in my post was looked over just to see that. However that is ok especially since other persons are making comments as well about how Obi-Wan didnt know they were married. That is just food for thought. In regards to them looking the other way that hurt them at the end as we know because in Revenge of the Sith this happend....

By the way who is arguing?

Apart from a number of the ones mentioned, I like "If an item does not appear in our records, it does not exist," as said by Jocasta Nu... It's an adaptation of the Latin, Quod non est in actis non est in mundo, meaning "What is not recorded does not exist" (lit. what is not in the records is not in the world). I thought it was clever.

 

Nice catch! Just shows Lucas is more educated than most of his critics give him credit for.
And Anakin's "If you're not with me, you're against me!" is straight from the Bible.

 

Obi-Wan agrees that Jar Jar is just... awful.

 

That's the thing, no one likes Jar Jar in universe, except maybe Anakin. He's not supposed to be likable (that said, I wouldn't mind to see less of him, especially on Tatooine).
