PT Dooku using two lightsabers

Anyone know where these pictures come from? I've read that it's a deleted sequence of Dooku using two lightsabers against Yoda, which makes sense.

 

From what I read, Dooku had used it in the Yoda duel, but because Anakin had already done this it was scrapped.

It's (briefly) in the AOTC comic.

 

It was filmed as a backup in case the CG Yoda didn't work out or looked too goofy fighting Dooku. It was dropped when it became apparent that CG Yoda was good enough for the film.

 

BTW I had the a better quality version of the first pic as my avatar on the boards about 10 years ago

 

I love how Dooku rags on dual saber users in the novels. Such a hypocrite.

Here's some more for you. But yeah, I don't know if the scene was ever completed, but some photos of the rotoscoped sabers appear on official merchandise (as you can see).

I would have loved to see it, but it was already done with Anakin. But the point of it would be that even a seasoned swordsman like Dooku needed all the help he could get against Yoda.

 

It's lame and doesn't fit the character imo, I'm glad they took it out and it never showed up in the EU.

I remember that bit!! The next bit is where Anakin drops his lightsabres and surrenders because he knows Dooku owns with boxing gloves.

 

Actually I would have MUCH preferred they had Tyranus use 2 sabers while Anakin did not.

It kinda fits the Sith using unorthodox fighting techniques to throw their opponents off balance. It doesn't make much sense for Anakin to abandon the style he has trained for 10 years on a whim when fighting the most dangerous opponent he has ever faced up until that moment.

Anakin knew that the opponent was skilled with a lightsaber yet he chose to use two..

however one must wonder why Obi-Wan threw it to him in the first place.

 

Anakin does get Dooku to retreat briefly using the dual sabres. I think it's more a gambit to get Dooku unbalanced if anything.

 

It's a shame that duel was as choppy as it was.

But I liked Dooku sticking with 1 saber.

 

Exactly! I always wonder that when seeing that scene. I try to make sense of that by thinking maybe Obi Wan trained Anakin to fight using two sabers, just in case they come up against a Sith Lord with an unorthodox fighting style (kinda like say...Darth Maul) to even the odds.

Still, it doesn't make a whole lotta sense.
