This is my last week of graduate school!!! Soon I'll have my Master's degree (and I used my electives to get a certificate too!) Just one more written exam tomorrow/Monday, one more group presentation on Wednesday, and an internship portfolio to wrap up by Friday! Wish me luck!
I'll be getting my Master's in Public Administration (and a certificate in Human Resources) this month. So it was a little more than a year (got my Bachelor's in Political Science in May 2011). It's more of a proffesional degree than an academic/liberal-arts one. It was mostly practical classes, not too bad... Budgeting, Strategic Planning, Administrative Law, Human Resources, Ethics, Theory, a Case Study, and a Comprehensive Exam (no Thesis, but it was a long and comprehensive paper). Plus a summer internship at a local nonprofit (that does environmental education and economic development). I just chose my electives (Alternative Dispute Resolution, Pensions & Health Insurance, Organizational Behavior, and HR Development on how to design Training programs and Performance Appraisal systems) so I could get a certificate too, though I'm not crazy over HR. And I took a creative writing class for fun! But yeah, 20 years of school (I've been in full-time school since I was 3!), having a master's degree before I'm 24... check!!!
I'm open-minded, but I'd like to get started in an agency that deals with the environment or perhaps education. Plan to work in government agencies/departments for 8-12 years or so, then start a small business and do that for a while, and then become a professor/teacher or perhaps go to a nonprofit/charity. I know I can't be picky though... just need to get a job somewhere to start off with, somewhere I can move up, something that's fairly interesting... not looking forward to the stressful job search at all!
Congratulations! Hope you're able to land a job that inspires you. Any plan to go back for a PhD eventually?
Congrats! Now it's off to the big scary real world. You'll do fine though. Hope you get the best paying job possible!
Thanks, everyone! I could do that eventually, or go back for another degree too. But at this time, I just need a break from school!
Done, done, completely done!!!!!!! Done, done, done, done... DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
