have the good guys and bad guys fight, but do not kill off too many people in each battle. i was sad when Maul was killed off after the first film. Vader was not killed off in his first film. That is why Vader is cooler than Maul, because he lasted more than one film. I do not like it when bad guys die too fast.

that should have read episode 1 4 times.....either way, nothing against GL, he gave me the best movies of my childhood and maybe it was wrong to believe that the stories would mature with the original fan base and being as epic as the OT was, any sequels or prequels were pretty much doomed with no chance of living up. I don't hate all of the PT, it was just a letdown and I think Disney can put some life back into the saga.

That's cool and I totally respect your opinion of the prequels and anyone who felt letdown by them. It's the great thing about art, people are free to interpret it in their own way. And I think we can all hope for a great Sequel Trilogy. We're all on these boards because of our love for Star Wars so I truly wish you a good time.[face_peace]

You're hitting on a much deeper issue when it comes to dos and don'ts. You're describing how you were disappointed by the death of Maul, but let's talk about one possible reason why you feel that way.

The problem that emerged when Darth Maul was killed in the first film is that it undermined any possible attempt to provide a recognizable and iconic villain for the PT; he was replaced for Episodes II and III by a distinguished actor delivering a dignified but utterly boring performance as Darth Tyranus/Count Dooku, and technically speaking it would have taken very little adjustment for Maul to essentially serve the same story functions (had he survived Episode I) as Dooku and Grievous; the very actor portraying Maul right now on the Clone Wars series is convinced that would have been Maul's function in Sidious' plans anyway (again, had he survived), and the series has already demonstrated that he would be more than capable in the job. So if he could in fact perform these functions, would it have been so hard to have Maul survive Episode I, carry through Episode II, and have him be the guy that dies out of nowhere at the beginning of Episode III? It would ultimately have had more emotional resonance had it been Maul getting his head scissored off than Dooku, simply because he would have had one more film than Dooku did to cement himself in the mind of the audience as a villain, and one more film for us to learn to hate him more.

So really, what you're actually saying is, if they introduce a villain, they'd best be prepared to exploit him to his best possible potential, or there's no point in having him.

    DO use the EU
DO cast Ewan McQuire as a force ghost
DO bring back the sith, while keeping the Chosen One prophesy true
DO bring back charicters like the Ewoks and Gangans, but only for like 10 minutes of the film.
DO bring back the big three
DO put in the Imperial Knights at some point

DON'T try to redo the PT, or ignore it
DON'T let Simon Peggy anywhere near this film
    DON'T mess it up

do end each episode on a cliff hanger. do no resolve everything in each film

don't make every film end like the phantom menace and new hope and return of the jedi ended

I'm watching it again right now. I have way too much time on my hands....perhaps Disney should tap RedLetterMedia for some sort of editor for the new script? lol

As a die-hard Plinkett fan myself, I'd have to concede that, so far, the entire decision-making process for Episode VII and on seems designed from the start to prevent the kind of mistakes that made people like Plinkett necessary in the first place. Granted, there's been little revelations since Arndt's reveal, but what we do know reveals far more dos at this stage than don'ts.

Why can't people learn to critique respectfully instead of rudely. Redlettermedia is funny. This guy is not. Sigh.

I do agree with him about the Old Republic cinematics as movies, however.
