    Is there a particular reason we should think the second Mayan calendar has anything to do with the end of the world since it turned out the first one didn't?

    While cleaning out my garage I found an old Newsweek magazine from 1997 with Y2K predictions in it. They were interesting from an "OMG the sky is falling!" perspective, and it's hilarious how many people actually stockpiled canned goods and ammo.

    Amazing how all apocalypses get rescheduled. I say if the world ends, I won't care because I won't be here to see it, and if it doesn't, there will be another prediction to laugh at. Win-win.

    Inorite? Even my ex got into that one wholeheartedly. Lots of water and canned food, looking for a generator and all. You know, now that I look back, I should have seen those as warning signs.

    Nothing to worry about, folks. I looked it up, and all it means is that plants just seem to know how to save enough energy to avoid starvation.

    So no scenario from a crappy M. Night Shyamalan movie coming to life.
