I actually found the one with Venezuelan oil wells spouting sickles and hammers to be more hilarious.

Two points. I may have made them before, but they bear repeating:

1) Conspiracy kookiness - from people of every political stripe; left, right, and center - has come out of the woodwork and off of the fringes to become a disturbingly common and prominent part of our national discourse.

2) These mass shootings and the people who commit them have increasingly become blank screens onto which people project their confirmation biases. Everyone seems to be doing it - people on the left, people on the right, people with every kind of agenda, and people who are just batpoop crazy.

I loved the comment that said this was carried out by the 'Autism Speaks' foundation to further their agenda.

 

Yeah, everyone knows it was actually shamanistic Voodoo Zen magic carried out by the Quasispectrum Branch of the Secret Order of Shriner Kabbalist Atlanteans from beyond the veil of death, using the dark arts gleamed from the cerebellum of Lee Harvey Oswald's compatriot on the dark side of the grassy knoll!

... I'm not sure if I made that up or if that's an actual headline from that site. Mindwipes by the aliens? Probably.

 

If I hadn't already been up half the night with a bad headache, I'd probably go beat my head against the wall reading about some of these conspiracy theories here. Autism Speaks? Really? Geez!

 

Ideally guns would be banned, but if we can ensure that paranoid delusional conspiracy nuts can't get access to guns, that would be a fantastic start.
