Wow, BTTF III over the original. That's something you don't see every day. You're definitely right about Indy, though.

    Dollars Trilogy
    Godfather Trilogy
    Star Wars Original Trilogy
    Star Wars Prequel Trilogy
    Indiana Jones Trilogy
    Lethal Weapon Trilogy
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (although overrated)
    The Bourne Trilogy
    Ocean's Trilogy
    The Dark Knight Trilogy

How is the Harry Potter film series a trilogy? You now trilogy means there's only three, right?

You know what I can't think of a trilogy where I wasn't disappointed by one the three movies.

    OT
    Indy
    BTTF
    Die Hard

Could only come up with four, and three of those have been expanded upon.

I'm not including franchises that never got me up to begin with.

If we can count novels, then A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, and A Storm of Swords form an excellent trilogy. I would add that I wasn't let down by A Feast For Crows nor A Dance With Dragons, though I can certainly understand why people who read the books as they came out were disappointed to some extent.

I consider myself OK with both trilogies although I can't stand ROTS; I liked the other two well enough to not call the entire trilogy a letdown. I never understand the dislike for ROTJ; it's my favorite Star Wars film.

I haven't seen DKR yet but I love the Nolan Batman movies so far.

    My list would be:

    Both Star Wars trilogies
    Back to the Future
    Indiana Jones
    LOTR

What? I'm not saying they are the best movies ever made. They happen to be three movies, part of the same story, that I happen to enjoy.

Oh. I assumed you were doing it right. See, it's not just whether you enjoyed the movies--I enjoyed TDK trilogy, The Star Wars PT, and The Matrix Trilogy, for example. It's more a question of whether they held up their quality over the course of the movies and/or didn't let you down. Do Ocean's 12 and 13 actually hold up to the first?

Alien Trilogy (not counting resurrection or the avp films, obviously)
    Indy
    the OT
    The Godfather
    The Dark Knight Trilogy
    the PT
    And yeah, the Dollars trilogy.

Favorite from each one: Alien, Raiders, Godfather 2, The Dark Knight, Revenge Of The Sith, and For a Few Dollars More. Shame Lee Van Cleef's character went into the toilet in the third act of that; absolutely loved his amoral good guy in FAFDM.

    Good question...

    SW OT of course
    Indiana Jones of course
    Samurai I: Musashi Miyamoto
LOTR although it was a close call
    Dark Knight trilogy

The MIB trilogy. I just pretend that I Robot and Independence Day are the same movie and therefore are MIB 2.

People broke up the Star Trek series too. And the Indiana Jones quartet too. And Die Hard. It's totally fine to pick three films from Harry Potter and call them a trilogy.

There's a third Mortal Kombat movie coming out right? When that is released MK will undoubtedly be part of this list.

Star Wars OT and PT(yeah, despite the PT issues)
    Back To The Future
Jaws. YES. Jaws 3D is sort of dumb but very amusing for two hours worth for no better reason than the charisma of the cast; Dennis Quaid, Bess Armstrong, Louis Gosset Jr, etc.
    Dark Knight
    Lord of the Rings
    Pirates of the Caribbean
Indiana Jones and yes I liked Crystal Skull too.
    The Matrix.
    The Godfather
    Bourne
Superman. Yes, even the third one, though a mess, was fun. The 4th was a mess and not fun.
    Rocky 1-3.

Yes I cheated a little too. Rocky 4 is ok, 5 bad, 6 was decent. Jaws had a very very very bad 4th. I would love to include Star Trek films but there are a dozen of them.

So far the Expendables movies have not disappointed me, but can Jackie Chan in Expendables 3 live up to Van Damme's brilliant performance in 2?
