JCC The "So I met a celebrity" thread.

I know we had one like this on the old board, but I couldn't find it, so might as well start anew.




Myself and Jessica Chastain at a playbill signing after a production of The Heiress. Great actress and a wonderful person. And yes, I am aware that the camera hates my guts.

 

I've met lexu and GrandAdmiralJello. Does that count?

 

I wouldn't call these "meeting", but I opened the door for Gwen Stefani accidentally, and then I stared at Brad Pitt for a good 5 minutes, who was just a couple of feet away. I've meet a lot of metal musicians for semi-famous/famous bands but they're pretty lame people (usually junkies) so I haven't kept track.

 

I've hung out with deftones (gods!) and Raymond, Dino and Christian from late 90's Fear Factory (Burton was doing vocal warmups).

 

I once tripped over Wil Wheaton and Lou Ferrigno at the same SDCC. Wheaton was purely on me being a klutz but I think Ferrigno was at fault, his booth's positioning relative to the nearest vendor stand was moronic.

 

Lou Ferigno cut me in line TWICE at WonderCon.

 

I met Anthony Zerbe and Roscoe Lee Browne at a Holiday Inn in Dubuque Iowa many years ago. They were staying there while performing a play in town and my family was on its way to Minneapolis. My dad had drinks with them at the bar and we played pool. The bar was almost empty at the Inn. Guess it was the off season. I best know Zerbe from Star Trek Insurrection and the Mayor of Zion from the Matrix movies. Browne of course was the voice of the Kingpin in the 90s Spider-Man cartoons, the narrator of Babe, and the "behold the power of cheese" guy until his passing.

 

guys remember jake lloyd in his floppy hat? so sad. it's too bad he didn't come over and do the macarena with us.

 

Well, I met a bunch of pro StarCraft players and commentators (e-celebrities count right?!) this past summer but only Vaoruj cares about that.

Anyway, I've got an autograph from George Takei and he and Walter Koenig answered one my questions during a Q&A at a con back in high school. A year or two later I got to see William Shatner at another con. Didn't get a question in for him and didn't get up close and personal with him.

Other than the, "You are contractually obligated to let me meet you because we are at a con" instances...

My wife and I basically shared a table with David Carradine in Austin.

Met Kim Kardashian at the airport in Miami and made a thread about it that amused me greatly.

Did a sword routine with Ray Park onstage at a con in Dallas (yes that breaks my con disclaimer. It it wasn't your typical autograph signing though).

 

Yep, I'd say doing a sword routine with a celeb marks it as unique.

 

Most of the celebrities that I've met have been athletes. I have met Cyril Wecht, the medical examiner, though. He thanked me for helping to move his stuff at a book fair that I worked.

 

I've seen some NASCAR drivers up close on pit road and the Garage area and saw 2 players from the Ohio State Mens Basketball team from 4 years ago or so at a Shopping Center.

 

Hung out with Tom Bailey from the Thompson Twins for a day when he was producing an album for a band I was making a website for. Told us stories about Madonna at Live Aid.
