HEY! I resent that! I'm pretty sure I instigated some of it!

And that's what I missed after ignoring AvX and AvX: Consequences.

Actually, I ignored those as well - all the relevant details were in Kieron Gillen's Uncanny X-Men, which you should've been reading because Kieron Gillen. :p

Ah, well, I should be reading that. I really should find a local comic shop. Haven't had the time to since I moved back, so I've been keeping up the best I could through online reviews at IGN and the like.

Yes, we should defend all comics that are dark and gritty. They are the cause to which we should strap ourselves, because they're worth saving.

    Pictured: worth saving.

I would totally play a game where everyone talked like they do in Punisher 2099.

To say that I was not pleased with how AvX ended would be an understatement. As a long time fan of the X-Men, it was very disappointing.

(Not going into the whole Tony Stark/Iron Man splitting the Phoenix Force into five parts, and in the end Scott becoming Dark Phoenix....oy vey!) However... "No more Phoenix?" Really now Marvel? She's been your (shamless) cash cow and 'deux ex-machina' for all these years and this is the best you can do? Then you (Marvel) proceed to set up a scenario that heavily alludes to 'Days of Future Past'...but wait, the Phoenix is part of the story arc, remember? ( via Rachel Summers). So you 'undo' your first mistake 'No more mutants', with a second mistake, 'No more Phoenix', bring back a boat load of mutants, then throw them into special prisons because they are a menace to society and restart the Sentinel Program.....*sigh*. I can't. Where is the originality here? Better question, will I continue to read.....(*who knows). End of rant, for now.

I think it's safe to say the House of Ideas has been out of ideas for a while, now, but that sort of comes with reading the Big Two these days. It's almost like a social contract - "Give me muscular men in skintight costumes beating things up, and I'll accept reading the same plot line every five years."

And improbably-busted women, Ramza. Or just plain old improbably-shaped women, Exhibit A: Rob Liefield.

"Improbably-Busted Women" sounds like an interesting name for a band.

    Just throwing that out there.

We have a bra brand in Australia called HESTIA. Wags quickly said it was an acronym: holds every size *** in Australia.

To be fair, everything Liefeld draws is terrible, not just his women. :p

I take no small amount of solace in the fact that his last online tirade was so angry and ludicrous that he'll probably never get hired again. :p

You missed Black Jack operating on himself while simultaneously using his scalpel to fight off a pack of wild dingoes.

    Typical Sunday, really.

So I actually happen to know that last one is meant to be a fantasy sequence.

It's an utter failure in every regard, but still. :p

That would imply that any panel Rob Liefield has ever drawn has any connection to reality. Prosecution rests, yer honner.

EDIT: Although, given my posting in the past, if "reality" has any connection with "Maxim shoot", he could have a connection to reality.
