That's fair enough. There's always a margin of error for personal taste. I'd argue that the quality of a film impacts that margin, obviously.

Are you really offended, or do you just choose to be? 'Cause... you know it's kinda just a big homage to Gunga Din, right?

It's not my fault that filmmakers in the 1980's didn't recognize the... quaintness of an 1890's poem.

Souderwan, your little observation on trilogies is really harshing my buzz for WWIII. Is this why you military types have left it in development hell for so long?

I'm talking the George Stevens film; nonetheless, if your sensibilities are genuinely offended by Temple of Doom then I'm sorry.

You do realize that Gunga Din is a ******* great poem. I hate this reinvention of Kipling as a colonial racist. Try reading him.

It's too bad, really; it all seemed to be building up to a rather explosive finale.

re TOD - it's not because logic goes out the window, it's that it goes out the window in a dopey, lame-ass way.

Temple of Doom is a great example of "othering". Like Darth Guy, I enjoyed it as a kid, but I really can't stand it now for the same reasons he outlined
